Promoted to Senior List! Why can't we get rid of this guy
That makes sure he is 1 of the 3 minimum main list delistees next season.

He's being upgraded because he has to be. Has been a rookie for as long as he is allowed to.

People need to stop thinking that being a rookie is a 'lesser' list position than being on the main list. It's just a way of reducing TPP.

The first year for a mid season rookie shouldn't really count because it isn't a full year.

Apparently if you have played less than 10 games then you get to be a rookie for up to 5 years. Surely jed hasn't played that many games.

That elevation effectively means we can only take 4 in the national draft and have one list A rookie spot open. Rome or Louie will be that rookie.
The only other scenario that gets us both is that we combine a couple of our picks to get an earlier pick.
Both of these boys are better than Jed.

There's about 100 draftees in this draft alone that are better than Jed haha

Might be true but I 100% believe in the narrative that the coaches need to justify McEntee's selection and inclusion in the AFL to supporters because otherwise it can be used against them for any potential sacking.

He doesn't have to be upgraded. He could also be delisted. We had a choice and chose the wrong one. Can't let them off the hook for this. For starters it was a mistake to give him a 2 year extension last year instead of 1. Its a series of mismanagement. Not isolated to one.

He's under contract.

You have no idea where we are in terms of cap position. We actually might not be able to delist him. Or if we do it might stuff up our cap when we want to sign players

This forum can be so weird at times. Nobody outside this forum gives a crap about McEntee. He's a fringe small forward that nobody gives a second thought to.

I do have an idea of our soft-cap situation. I said it during the trade week, we have a ton of salary cap to spare and hence why we agreed to take on Luko and Atkins' salary and despite that we still have room. This guy is on 200k or thereabouts. It would absolutely not hinder us to delist him while he's under contract because its 1 year left. Besides, the payout would only impact this year's salary cap and not the future when we would want to sign players. The club has no issues with salary cap whatsoever. If anyone says it does its a myth.

AND if someone does say that we have salary cap issues and we assume I am wrong, then you would really have to question the list management's decision to take on Atkins' salary. Regardless, there's just poor decisions all round.

The TPP is not the soft cap. Different things.

Even if we do have room I imagine it must be under some pressure given we have now taken on Ratkins salary, Lukosius and potentially eating Clureys salary.

And having room is good anyway with cap underspend and being able to push it onto next year.

And however good you may think this draft is, history will say there are very, very few players who get taken later than pick 50 who go on to have an AFL career.

My bad I was meant to say the TPP. We didnt pay-out much of Clurey's salary because he wanted to leave. Didnt pay-out much from what I know.

We can also only underspend by 5%.

Lets assume we have no TPP room. You mention that now that we have taken on Ratkins salary we can't afford to delist McEntee. That is the very issue I have with our list management's decisions this off-season. Why take on Ratkins when he won't be playing AFL and then force yourself to keep McEntee and now have 2 players on your list who aren't AFL quality?

In that case good news! We now have Jed included in TPP because we gave him a deal longer than he deserved which saw him forcebly elevated.
And we delisted two players who we evidently rated higher than him based on finals team selections because they didn't have contracts.

The Jed nightmare not only continues but gets worse.

He's going to cost us a spot of getting a player much better than him in the draft.

We are just the most haphazard bumbling lot of losers this side of New Coke.

You have to laugh.
