We've now turned Shanahan into a top 5 pick 🥺

I was reading an article on him the other day that said if he had a bit more leg speed he would be in the conversation for top 3

Why not?

We almost never do (we rarely have 1st round picks at all because we trade them all away) and the result is that all our tall players are traded in and we pay a kings ransom for it.

We have plenty of good smalls and they're all pretty young. We don't have a clear replacement for Aliir going forward.

Good key forwards are found in the first round. So happy to invest in one there.

It’s harder to judge how 18yo Key defenders and rucks will transition to AFL level. That’s why it’s so risky to use a first rounder on one and why there are so many busts

I thought Armstrong was the top rated Key Forward?

Twomey expects him to be gone before our pick. He would be #1 although Shanahan is coming with a rush.

I wouldn't believe any rumours, clubs have screwed the lid down tight. If Armstrong, Shanahan and Whitlock all go before our pick, there's going to be a decent mid-type when we get to choose. Just seems unlikely.

If we're looking for a midfielder late in the draft I think Luke Kennedy is a solid option. Played senior footy at the age of 15, was amongst Sandringham's most consistent midfielders this year. Elite 2 way runner and can deliver the ball exceptionally well off his right and left boot.

Suns did us dirty btw. They sold us 13 saying we could get a great deal for it. Was supposed to be 19 and 22 for 13. Now we're thinking of doing this deal because our hands are tied and those offers are gone?
Those offers will come back around again come draft night when certain players are still on the board,

That’s when you’ll get their best and final.

Yeah feels like all these proposed deals are just that, proposed ammunition in the bank, and plans in place depending on how things unfold. Feels like a lot of movement could happen on draft night pending how the selections fall.

I like the move back only if we know Shanahan will be available. I dont like it in the case that we miss out on Shanahan and the best slider such as Reid, Travaglia etc.
I think it happens on the condition that certain players are still on the board and clubs can calculate best value.
