Interesting watching the Brayshaw tackle on Finlayson on Sunday, that Wilson looked far far closer to him than AB, but didn't or couldn't make the tackle. Was he cooked or was the angle of the camera misleading.Barlow
This. This is what J-Lo is master at, it's why the team has been so potent this year, and winning in big games against the 'top dogs'....J-Lo is excellent at clarifying roles and simplifying messages and then getting the players in synch with all that. Guys like Acres are a huge example of how well he coaches, most people looked upon Blake as a steak knives entrant off the Hill trade that might be in and out of the team dependent on other players, now he's arguably our best winger and unmistakably best 22 without an argument from too many, times change and things can improve out of sight with the right direction and guidance! It's why we're moving and shaking with such a young list, imagine things in 2/3 years time if J-lo is still coach then (which no one can see why he wouldn't be at present..). It's a potentially very exciting period in Freo's history about to unravelAlso thought it was interesting JLo said he wanted Fyfe at stoppage, then forward of the ball, without using him at centre bounce.
I think wherever we use him will take some refinement. I.e. if he plays high hf role we play really tall if logue also stays forward, forward pressure becomes an issue.
Totally understand JLos comments about not wanting to be transparent with plans, but feels pretty important to try to build through the last third of the season with clarity on roles at least internally.
I think Longmuir was talking about the media always asking where Fyfe is going to play during the week leading up to a game.This. Does anyone else wonder where the strong defensive, rebound game has gone? The stats later in the season seem to be completely different to the first part.
They were flat footed at the contest and Dixon's (who is on the ground in the photo) handball was over his head to another Port player and then onto Finlayson. Brayshaw could see it unfolding from a distance and started sprinting before the 2nd handball was done. Rewatching it, he was in the best position but he was also running at an amazing speed for someone who had played a full game and just ran back and foward up the ground the whole time. The umpire didn't even pay holding the ball, disgraceful decision.Interesting watching the Brayshaw tackle on Finlayson on Sunday, that Wilson looked far far closer to him than AB, but didn't or couldn't make the tackle. Was he cooked or was the angle of the camera misleading.
And by the way, I was wrapped in Wilsons game.
We all see things differently, but having just watched it again. Willo was right there, much closer than AB. He should have chased, in my opinion, But fortunatley, he was there to take the ball away. They were flat footed at the contest and Dixon's (who is on the ground in the photo) handball was over his head to another Port player and then onto Finlayson. Camera angles always make players appear closer across the ground than the length of the ground. It's angles & acceleration with the tackle, Finlayson was on the move first and running away from Willow but Brayshaw was travelling earlier, much faster and closing distance. Finlayson was cooked before he even got the ball.We all see things differently, but having just watched it again. Willo was right there, much closer than AB. He was giving Finlayson a false sense of security hahaInteresting watching the Brayshaw tackle on Finlayson on Sunday, that Wilson looked far far closer to him than AB, but didn't or couldn't make the tackle. Was he cooked or was the angle of the camera misleading.

Combination of personnel, different opposition, and teams learning how to take away what we want.Does anyone else wonder where the strong defensive/rebound game has gone? The stats later in the season seem to be completely different to the first part.
If he had held Finlayson's jumper and taken him down it would be holding the ball, but he really just pushed him off his kick.
He grabbed his jumper in the lunge, it pulls away from his body for a split sec, although the umpire on the wrong side. Finlayson doesn't dispose of the ball correctly but I can see why it wasn't paid.He didn't tackle him so couldn't be htb.
Combination of us playing the better teams now and teams studying our tapes so they know how to defend us.Does anyone else wonder where the strong defensive/rebound game has gone? The stats later in the season seem to be completely different to the first part.

Looks hideous. Maybe too many hits in the teeth so he had to fix them?Lobbs veneers in his interview with Pav
He's going to Ronnie Coleman levels!!
Yeah, it does make you wonder if it's all worth it. I mean, I'd like to be able to walk without constant pain when I'm in my sixties! The way he's played his career his body will probably end up as cooked as Coleman's too.
