Yeah, it does make you wonder if it's all worth it. I mean, I'd like to be able to walk without constant pain when I'm in my sixties!
I'm assuming you don't play professional sport though. The physical, social, and psychological benefits of playing amateur sport outweigh any injury concerns.
And no one has ever accused professional bodybuilding of being healthy either, quite the opposite. Professional wrestlers are probably the only cohort with more premature deaths than pro bodybuilders. But that's a world away from the benefits average people get from weight training.
