I kinda hope we keep him...sure. he'll be miffed, but all could be forgiven if Glass announces his retirement at the end of next year and he is stold he is a first up start from that point on. As mentioned, his girlfriend is a West Aussie who plays netball and can't just up and leave, he has established roots here, WC are closer to a premiership than St Kilda, one would think. So I won't be worried just yet that that he would leave for nothing next year.

For someone who has posted a large number of times on BF - you obviously have little understanding of both how trading works and inherent values of players.

If I was attempting to display my understanding of trading and inherent values, I wouldn't have asked a question, I would have made a statement.

Hence the use of a question mark.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you gave little thought to this post - cause if you were actually serious then I strongly suggest you give the game away

I was deadly serious, in asking a question, not so serious in making a statement.

Hence the use of a question mark. :)

Next lesson - smilies

Cripps and 34 (or 43 if we can manage it) for Brown and 57 sounds pretty fair.

We are massively trying to fill the void in our list of 20-25 year olds.

So does Koshitski go now?
Kosi has a contract for 2013, nobody will trade for him

i hope if we dont get brown he moves to CHB. thats where he won his rising star if im not mistaken
Can't see that happening TBH, not mobile enough
You're right about his Rising Star win, but that was a looong time (and several head knocks, back injuries) ago

I'd imagine that means Brown doesn't go to St Kilda - unless your Compo pick is involved

Seriously doubt Saints were going to trade pick 12 for Brown - if they were, there is no way they'd have traded it for Lee as we have a must more pressing need for a back man than we do for a 21 year old potential forward on the first day. If they have offered Brown a 3 year contract, they're obviously going to be in talks with WCE as much as possible. There's no way they'd use their only bargaining chip for Brown to get Lee on the first day.

Obviously, someone at St Kilda thinks they can still get Brown for something less. And Hickey is apparently our second rounder.

Yup agree

Unless of course we then trade back our pick 17/18

Still I struggle to see a deal getting done. Had Brown been uncontracted - then a deal would be far more likley IMO

WC might be closer to a premiership - but if he's not playing in the team, how is that a benefit to him? With regards to his established roots - I'd suggest he's thought about that somewhat before he asked for a trade back to Vic. In the end, he's asked for the trade, so he wants out. Whether the Eagles will actually trade him is another thing.

I definitely agree with this. The only reason I'm 60/40 a trade getting done is because WC might want to make room for someone who actually wants to be there - and seeing as (apparently) Woosha has told him that he's back of the queue for spots next year (which is apparently one of the main reasons he is looking for a trade) it's very possible that WC don't rate him as highly as everyone on here.

He's not at the back of the queue though. He is next in line if one of Glass or McKenzie goes down, thats why he's so valuable to us. He's a proven 24yr old KPD. Also more than likely Glass will finish up at the end of the year so Brown will become the full time FB/CHB in 2014.

His girlfriend Shae Bolton is a melbourne girl who just happens to play netball for the West Coast Fever and recently signed a 1yr deal so its not like its a long term deal.

If he moves back to victoria I am sure she will be following once the netball season finishes.

Brown surely doesn't carry a lot of value. A knee reco and couldn't get into the side this year along with a string of other injury. I think he would be a decent get by St.Kilda if they snare him...but 2nd round pick at best. Perhaps now the Saints have picked up a few picks from the Lee trade they might have something to work with.

He's being held out of the side by the AA captain and a very good young full back. He is the first in line once Glass retires, thats why he is so valuable to West Coast. If we wont get "overs" for him we will keep him for the year and back ourselves to get him signed up.

Ah, thanks, I didn't know the length of her contract. That would remove pretty much all the obstacles then because the season would pretty much be over come footy season next year.

Yeah they mentioned it in the sunday times a few weeks back and I thought it was interesting as I knew Brown was out of contract at the end of next season.

WC fans are assuming Brown doesn't mind putting his career on hold for another year (or potentially two) while he waits for Glass to retire. He's at the age where he should be playing regular footy and won't be getting anything from playing in the WAFL. Compare that situation as opposed to a three year deal on better money in his hometown and guaranteed a spot at FB.

There is the possibility West Coast will force him to stay against his will, but we've rarely seen than in recent years. Clubs generally don't bother keeping a player who doesn't want to be there.
