Why wasn't the trade completed today!

Nothing has been seen anywhere else on this & the obvious is that a deal will be done on Monday as it is the last day & of course the end result is that
when the deal finally gets done Channel 9 can say " you heard it here first on 9 " .

Pathetic really .

He didn't need to sign to confirm a trade but they may be waiting for the unveiling tomorrow or possibly there is a chance that Adelaide and Brisbane are working on a trade for Tippet. (That's just a rumour from Jon Ralph from the Herald Sun). Seeing as the papers are not going to be lodged until Monday.
There has been no word on the details, even channel nine who confirmed the trade tonight did not mention what was involved in the trade. All the other TV stations and journalists have said the trade has not been done.???

Pfft Jon Ralph....shit journo!

Hopefully the deal is done and we move on

I hope it doesnt get there in time :)
I get the feeling we are going to be paying overs, considering the situation.

Besides the threat of GWS and our higher selection in the Pre-Season draft the situation could hardly be better for us. He is uncontracted, wants to come home for family reasons and has openly stated that he only wants to play for Fremantle. I must admit to still feeling uneasy but ultimately we are still in a position to get a fair trade.

Can someone remove the Brisbane posters off this board, I got carded for nothing from theirs, let them go and wallow in their own shit

Perhaps it's as well to consider how we would feel if it was our Clarke who was leaving and we were on the receiving end.

By bringing that up you are forcing Brisbane fans to consider the possibility that their club has literally driven it's talent into the waiting arms of the opposition and I think that would hurt more than anything.

They must be wondering who is next and how long it will go on for.

We've all been where Brisbane fans currently are, both with Tarrant and Warnock. I'm fairly sure we were all pissed with the way both these players nominated their choice of club and insisted the job get done. In hindsight, I certainly believe the players did us wrong, but their clubs of choice simply played their hands perfectly.

I'm sure, once the dust has settled, Brisbane fans will boo the shit out of Clark when he plays in Brisbane next, but in time they will feel that we too played the hand perfectly.

I'll be visiting their board to see what's going on, but if I start to type anything then I will be sure to tread lightly. I'm fairly certain our Mods were very short-fused last year, I wouldn't expect theirs to be any different.

Can anyone remember if any deals were announced over last years weekend during tradeweek? Or will clubs wait until Monday?

From memory, there wasn't a weekend during trade week last year, it was Monday to Friday.

I guess there's nothing stopping clubs announcing trades, but they won't be official until the AFL receives the appropriate doco which I guess can't happen until Monday.

Players will be only be eligible for restricted free agency after 8 years though, and the player's original club can choose to match it. Unrestricted free agency is after 10 years, by then a player would be 28-29.

Aware of that, but I don't think being shrewd hurts us. The future is more like these proceedings.

Thankfully, their two main offenders seem to have left us alone for the last 48 hours.

Can I guess who the 2 were? I will say Cotter and Brown Dog? Just for the record, I am not one of the people who comes on here and argues. I just want to hear rumors, bag out players and ask questions about players I haven't really seen much. It seems like every ****in page turns into lame repetitive shit fight (both boards)

I agree. I don't think some past transactions have been THAT dissimilar to what we're witnessing with Clark. Apart from Clark coming out on the Fremantle website and saying what he did, which I wasn't a fan of (I'm sure there's one or two Freo fans that might agree with me), it's gone as you'd have realistically expected at the start of the week, with it coming down to Monday.

I don't think we are going to screw Brisbane over too badly. We seem to have 2 massive egos in a Mexican stand-off (Kerr vs Bond), and I can see Kerr being stubborn enough to send Clark to the PSD if he so desires. Maybe we can get Clark in the PSD, but I'm not sure that is a risk we want to take.

Some earlier posts which have the deal as Clark+34 for 16+20 seem about right. Brisbane might throw in 52 if they aren't going to use it. Essentially Brisbane are getting 16+20, which is more than fair. The picks they give up are meaningless to them, if they won't be using them. We could maybe look to send 34 or 38 to St Kilda for Clint Jones.

If we gave up 16+20 for Clark and Jones, it wouldn't be the perfect outcome for us, but it would be an OK trade. I'd still like to keep pick 16 ... with GWS possibly drafting for needs, it could be worth more than pick 16 ... but unfortunately I can't see us holding onto it if we want to get Brisbane to sign off on a deal.
