Moira Deeming v John Pesutto

Had Channel 7 news on after the cricket. They're talking about whether parliamentarians would be able to vote remotely given the holidays "a move that comes after Pesutto's earlier move to shift the goalposts was met with backlash..."

And left it at that. WTF?! What kind of news presenting is that? You can't say that without explaining it, otherwise it's just an unjustified kick.
Pesutto wants to hold a special ballot to enable absent members to vote remotely. It would be before the other ballots on Friday.

Hmmm. I was reading the Age article before saying the same thing.

There's a chance I just wasn't listening to the story very closely. There's a greater chance that it was a really poor bit of sub-editing by 7, and the presenter - who ironically quit the ABC because she didn't like working with "activists" before moving to 7 (lol) - missed a pretty crucial link in the information she was presenting.

Not sure why you responded like that?

It’s not that bloody bad here. The way you are carrying on you’d think a civil war is about to break out.

Yourself and PJays might be melting faster than the Antarctic ice sheet but I bet neither of you can name one decent thing the Liberals have done in Victoria since Kennett.

I have no shame in saying I paid minimal attention to Victorian politics pre-2014.

But, since Liberal's only had 4 years in the last 25, it sounds like a trick question. Meaningful change takes time.

How about you tell me which of these crucial areas are in better shape than 2014?

- Health system

- Budget position & financial sustainability

- Education

- Crime rates

- Justice system

perhaps out of fear of losing this mornings leadership ballot to another inner city moderate* ...... the happy clappers have put chris crewther forward as a contender

* couple of things
  • brad battin must be seriously on the nose - prayer room boy probably trying to work out if berwick makes him to much of an 'out of towner' for his liking
  • moderates in the victorian liberal party ........ yeah ....... hard to believe huh

So the 2024-25 public service wage bill was forecast at $34.77 billion, and it's now been upgraded to $37.52 billion.

Note- it was $18.8 billion in 2014. Doubled in a decade.

But, how does this actually happen?

How is it even possible to be under by almost 10%?

Did Pallas sit there with a bottle of wine, throwing darts at numbers on a wall. "Oh $34 billion, that sounds nice!"

I'll just leave this here

If it was Labor opposition infighting while serious bushfires were happening. You'd be told this repeatedly by news sky age herald sun etc etc
Do t be childish! We are talking about the OPPOSITION not the government.

Next thing you’ll be saying any Opposition MP currently on holiday should hold their head in shame because there are fires burning

And the thing is this government is paying more on executive public servant salaries than ever, but also spending more than any state government in history on consultants

think some of the drama queens in here need to remove the herald sun/3aw/skynews/9/7 cannula from their veins and take a good long constitutional ...... the hysterical 'sky is falling' nonsense is bordering on the pathological

As bad as Labor might be … changing government to the LNP always ends up worse.
It’s happened twice in Victoria since 1992. Kennett in for the hapless and unmitigated disastrous Cain / Kirner governments, and Ted Bailiieu in for Brumby.

Bailleu was Kennett ‘pick’

We kept getting lectures about how politicians have little business experience. Well Ted the toff had plenty of that, how did it work out.

I reckon Ted instigated a ‘closing down’ sale
