Morton to richmond x2

Now that richmond have secured mitch morton through a trade does this indicate they will take his brother cale at # 2 in the NAB draft. If so then Krezuer will be taken at 1 and this leave west coast with 3 which they will take in all likeliness Trent Cotchin.

Two problems arise from this.

a) he is a victorian and highly touted (and will go at pick 3 like chris judd did), will he return home in 3-5 years time al la Chris Judd. Wud be da jaa vau.

b) his old man came out in the paper last week saying he does not want his son to go to West Coast.

Will be interesting on draft day.

Why would it? Did Brisbane feel obligated to take another Selwood last year?

There is so much at stake in getting these top picks right nowadays. I'm sure if Cal Morton is best available at Pick #2 he'll be taken, whether or not he has a brother already at the club.

West Coast had a 2 hour meeting with them recently where he said the paper twisted his words. He is more then happy for his boy to come to WC

My suspicions are that the tiges have committed to Cale Morton, allowing the WC to swoop on Cotchin, thats why they gift wrapped MM to tiges for #35

Yeah, I believe that to be the case too.

Works out good for us because even though we missed out on the number 1 pick, we should still get our man

There was a chance the WC would have lost Morton to the PSD, so they had to take a lesser pick from Richmond, otherwise they would have got nothing. Not to sure about the gift wrapping...but, it's obviously a possibility!

Still hoping the Tigers will pick up Cotchin!

Neither. I would pickup Rhys Palmer. He will be the best of the midfielders at this years draft.

I would love that then Cotchin wud slip to 4 what a steal. From limited knowledge of u18 talent in WA from eaht i heard Palmer was expected to go 30+ in the draft but after is superb Carnival has bolted in top 10 contention any WA fans care to elaborate???

Our premiership captain, Brownlow medalist, duel club champion and best player in our history. Who we traded for 3 good players.

Mitch only asked for the Trade to igers because Caleb was going there.

Juddy deal nearly made it not happen. If Judd had gone to Tigers, then Caleb and Mitch would have been at WCE. Same if Carlton had traded No1. The two brothers combine >Kreuzer or Cotchin.

WCE choice will be Cotchin (best) or Masten (best WA boy)

Palmer will go to Freo.

As a west Coast supporter, I would be more than happy to draft another Victorian. I think Cotchin's fathers comments were taken out of context by a journalist making a story by taking 1 and 1 and getting three. Woodhouse was on 6PR last night and I tihnk commented something along the lines of "Well I was at the Cotchin's and so was the journalist, she kept asking the same question over and over again, which was more about concerns a father would have about sending his son away to an unknown culture, and he responded that of course he would have concerns, as any parent would". Anyway, not really on point, but thought I would add it.

I think Cotchin may be more than happy to play for the Eagles (again Woodhouse on 6PR), and I would happily take him over Palmer/Masten etc. THe Eagles player welfare and track record of keeping Victorian kids gives me more confidence. Judd is really the exception to the rule at West Coast. The only playerse really to leave in the last 10 years have been McConnell, Judd, and Gehrig.

We have kept almost all the Victorians we have ever taken I think. So I don't think the Eagles will hesitate for a second about taking a Victorian over WA kid if the Victoiran is better.

If Richmond had commited to Morton and WCE Cotchin, wouldnt we have traded pick 2 for 3 + Morton, instead of losing pick 35? Would have been better for everyone involved.
