We've had Gydafud's very popular thread: 'Most frustrating time as a Geelong supporter', so what was your 'Most Exciting/Happiest Time as a Geelong Supporter'?

As Gydafud said: "This is a question that can only be relative to your own experiences. . ."

Another year we made it to Finals, yet bowed out in the PF again. Still we've had sensational success - so, what do you remember as your favourite time in Geelong's History?

Please include your favourite players over the years too? While Geelong may not have had the success we all hoped for, many brilliant players were a joy to watch.

2007 finals series and the night & next few days after the flag for mine.
Some great times in the 90's too. Always exciting during GF week, running out on the ground when Gaz would get his 100th for the year etc.
Fave players over the years,
1.Scarlett
2. Equal Gazsnr/Buddha
3. Chappy/Corey
4. Any of Couch,Hinkley, LilGaz, Lingy

Premierships are meaningless to me because they’re just a stat at the end of the day. Sure they’re nice but to me they’re just the cherry on top. I’d sacrifice one for 10 years in the top 4 straight (membership numbers rise = higher chance of profit = guaranteed chance of stadium expansion = finals at home). Like in soccer I don’t care if Chelsea takes home the title annually I just want them in the top 4 and I’m content. I prefer individual days so in 2011 when we flogged Melbourne by nearly 200 points.

Personally I like em a lot. But it's a different way of looking at it and probably the way it should be.
Footy culture is too weighted towards "flag or nuthin". There's been some brilliant Geelong times without flags that's for sure.

Premierships aside, mine would be 30th July, 2011.

Geelong VFL 31.6.192 d. Casey 10.4.64
Geelong AFL 37.11.233 d. Melbourne 7.5.47

Got to the ground about halfway through the first quarter of the VFL game when we already had 4 goals on the board, so saw first hand 64 of the 68 goals we kicked that day.

Interesting and refreshing way to look at our game, or any sport really.
-You must have loved the 89-95 era.
-What about the current CS era, of relative top 4 success, but no GF/Flags? Fan ?

If we kept going 12-10 each year I’d be happy enough since I don’t measure a good team by premierships as teams go through droughts and have many good periods without winning the big prize. As a kid I had two choices Port or Geel. Picked Geel after the 04 prelim somehow, I kind of regret it if honest despite the 2007 GF result. Regret it because I’m old enough to go out and go to the footy alone the past 3-4 which coincided with me moving back to SA. I joined up to Port to see many games live and have regretted picking us since because no matter what I tell myself my love for Geel will always far outweigh anything I ever feel if anything at all for Port. I want to get something out of supporting a club - that isn’t premierships or success but mainly seeing a team live I can throw support behind. Doesn’t help I hate the direction our club is heading in has also coincided with my moving back to SA and being old enough to attend alone.

In 1989 when we had lost the 2 close ones in a row at Princes Park against Fitzroy and Hawthorn after being miles in front, we came out and won by about 15 goals the next 3 weeks. Then we rolled good sides like Melbourne, Collingwood and Essendon on the G and for the first time in my life i thought, we can really win this.

On reflection the entire 1989 season was just magnificent except for the obvious at the very end.

I love the grandfinals - all of them. I’m a noticeably happier person going into work with a smug smile when we get up the weekend prior.

However I love seeing the kids, tragically this is usually when we are losing. I’ll never forget seeing a young Ablett and Chapman in the early 2000’s tearing it up at Forward, having opposition supporters just look at each other in disbelief. The glimpses Johnson teased us with in the earliest part of his career. That young kid with mop hair cut running off the backline installing confusion if he was a midfielder or defender. Not to mention some of my all time favourites Enright and Corey blossom into Mr Consistents.

Late 2010 seeing Menzal, Christensen and Duncan was also a great sight. Watching Menzal year apart Collingwood is something I’ll never forget. Likewise seeing little Bundy Christensen getting contested possessions with such a light frame was so refreshing as the changing of the guard was imminent (I still miss that kid).

I’d have to say I was pretty happy this year, probably the most excited I’ve been in a long long time. Stewart was sensational, Parsons just looks like a 200 game wingman to me and Parfitt certainly didn’t disappoint me. I’m hoping we build on this and give young Miers a go in 2018.

We all see it differently I guess

Home and away wins are meaningless , possibly contrived results at times certainly missleading..they are so often hollow and they are just stats at the end of the day. Sure its nice to turn up and see us win at KP playing sides of worth like the Suns and the Lions but id sacrifice 10 years of false positive top10s for a Premiership year of worth..where were were a truly dominant force that had all quivering at our magnificence. I don't know how so many soccer clubs survive in their comp where most just exist to serve , to be fodder for the biggest teams.. being mediocre year in and year out ..have some good wins but basically know you are there to make up the numbers ..has a club like QPR ever won anything?

But everyones different ..and you are lucky to be able to have that attitude , im sure you have many days of enjoyment to come , some in the near future.

The most memorable best times were the 07-11 GF's .. to rock up , have a BBQ in the park for breakfast with the family , soak in the whole atmosphere then go and watch us in such great fashion.
