I can understand why you're furious - hell I'm pretty upset about it and I don't even barrack for the Swans - but this isn't a Geelong versus Sydney thing.

Agreed. This is a momumentally rubbish decision by the AFL administration who are responsible for their own ineptness - not Geelong and not Ablett.

I look forward to 3 weeks being imposed on EVERY tackle of this sort from now on - they have just set a precedent which we all know they will impose when it suits them to ... What is this game coming to?

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/05/11/2896560.htm

This says it's a new rule, which explains a lot. Whenever the AFL changes a rule they always crucify the first person reported under it. I must admit for my part I didn't even know this rule had changed...

Anyway, I hope you appeal and he gets off.

Go and take a look at what happened to the last player to lie to the tribunal and get found out later. What do you think the AFL would do to a club that conspired to lie? And these things do come out...

Im not saying they should lie, could have just said he was well enough after the 'incident' to rip us a new arseh*le for the rest of the game.

He deemed the ruckman's second action as unnecessary and said it was "inherently dangerous to with force turn an upper torso with your own body and slam into the ground".

The tribunal's legal counsel, Jeff Gleeson SC

Ruling: Downgraded to negligent conduct/medium impact/but still high contact not body.
Am I wrong in assuming the upper torso is body rather than high.(the neck & head)
No mention of the head making contact with the ground being part of the judgement.
Challenge.

How are they going to grow the game in the League states when they're turning the game into netball. This decision makes no ****ing sense.

Also why is it that if this the soft **** way we're going with the game why nothing was done about the ROK tackle last week. Could it be that some players are more protected than others. If Mummy had tackled a nobody I bet my left nut NOTHING would have been done about it.

is it one eyed of me to think its a terrible decision?

I don't see too many other supporters suggesting they got it right so as red and white as you are doesn't mean you are one eyed on this crock of crap.

What a blight on the game we love. Contact sports get unintentional injuries and somtimes very minor injuries.

My apologies for misinterpreting your original post.

Think nothing of it, I realise I could have been clearer.

Rage blurs my clarity at the moment. I obviously admit my bias, as most of us are in this thread, but I think this suspension transcends simple team orientation.

Surely others think it's ridiculous also.

That is bullshit. How can 3 grown AFL people possibly sit there and come to this decision?

Appeal, appeal and appeal some more Roosy.

Can't believe what's happened to you guys. I was livid when they rubbed Maguire out last week for us, but this has gone too far this time.

This is an utter disgrace and the MRP should somehow be struck off.

Decisions like this are ruining the game. We might as well just hold up the white flags now and remove those 4 big posts down either end of the stadiums and replace them with soccer nets.

Seems to me that the rules committee want to make players so scared of bumping or tacking anyone that the physical aspect of the game will disappear in time.

Total bloody idiots.

The panel was our own Moose Henwood, now a dog, Pathetic Pittman from the Crows and Wayne Shimelbusch from North. They are decent people, so it just shows how much control Vlad and Anderson have.

Jeepers this is tough to hear that Moose is on the panel he was my childhood hero mainly because how hard he went in and didn't take any crap. Now to hear he is involved in handing down this decision ...devastating!

They actually just played all 3 of those side by side on On The Couch. All very similar especially Hayes' to Mumford's in the power with which the tackled player hit the ground but then ROK's was similar to Mumford's in the head hitting the ground.

I cannot believe that Mumford has copped this.

TWO weeks?! Pfft - rubbish decision! I didn't realise Dan Currie's fans had that much influence... :p

I just cannot accept that this decision if played next to the Hayes and ROK incidents is consistent. How that panel can come up with this decision really is beyond me. Pathetic that this has come about in a contact sport.
