He'd been in good form this PS as a KPD, but didn't play well in the NAB Cup. Played a lot better last week, but still needs to do some work.

He's no duck, but he has some good tools.
You guys expecting something out of him at senior level this year? He'd be lucky with Davis and Rutten in there already.

That's the problem for the big fella.

He's proven effective as a stop gap measure ruckman. Capable of being a back up who chops out around the ground. However with Maric, Jacobs, Moran and argueably McKernan now all ahead of him as a ruck.....that looks unlikely.

There's no room down forward, Tippett, Walker, McKernan all have a grasp with Phil Davis harboring desires to play there as well.

He's most effective as a backman....FB to be exact. But there's few players in the league that could dislodge Rutten from FB and Jim isn't one of them. He can play some CHB pretty well, but with Davis there and Talia in the wings chomping at the bit as well....that's also not an option.

Thompson, Stevens, Talia, Davis, Otten are all ahead of him in ability to play 3rd tall as they are more agile.

He's been impressive with his ability to link up out of defence, but he just seems to be in a no win here. Probably an AFL standard FB, and will likely play some AFL for us this year (finally answering your question), but it's unlikely at this stage he'll be best 22 for us this year.

His fortunes are likely to be determined by how well Maric and Jacobs go. I don't see him getting a gig just on his role as a defender (mind you, if Rutten and/or Davis fall over there aren't that many others ahead of him...) but if he can get an opportunity to play the second ruck/part-time defender role he should be alright.

Cheers guys. Good to hear some positive news on him at last, sounds though like his best option is probably a trade to a club that needs a full back.

Just got here, finished uni early so thought I may as well come now. It's a bit windy, sort of blowing across the ground towards the Pratt stand. A few Crows players already out having a kick at goal.
