Thought the difference between the 2 teams was closer than the margin with the Hawks getting a couple of goals from frees.Holding on White,50 metre penalty on Poppy and the free on Kruezer. We also dropped a number of marks inside 50.

Kerridge was awesome.
Jones seemed to be moving much better and attacked the ball well. Doesn't seem to have improved his ability to catch the ball.

Masssive positive was the way we structured up. Pretty happy with the efforts

Finally got to watch the game. Cannot understand the negativity at all.

Pressure, sticking tackles, talk, forward pressure, taking the game on, possessing the ball, zoning, closing space but not overcommitting, actual shepherding, switching proactively instead of reactively, less ball chasing/watching.

Newbies:
Lamb √
Curnow √
Kerridge √
Phillips √

Boekhurst, Graham and Casboult were impressive.

Kerridge was pretty good also. Wasn't as clean as above but was good in the contests.

Gibbs is in for a big year. Bookmark it right now.

Rowe was better on second viewing. He will be crucial should we play Weitering and not expose him immediately to the gorilla forwards. (RIP Matthew Watson).

I watched a replay

1. Phillips was outstanding - a pity he didn't have the mids capable of making use of his taps in Q2&3 he and Kreuzer will go well together.
2. Defensive formation and effort in Q1 was top8 quality - easily
3. Tutt/Whiley/and to an extent Kerridge were poor users of the ball - Whiley and Tutt experts in hospital passes VFL quality .
4. Rowe needs support - you can't leave him one out and expect him to beat his man AND get the rebound going - he is too slow as far as fast rebound kicks go - Weitering will help with his fast closing speed and ability to outmark opposition.
5. The best thing I can say about Thomas is that he didn't get injured.
6. Simpson played a shocker - really questioning his usefulness as a HBFer - would he be better with some space in forward line?

Under pressure - the old Carlton in Q3 especially was apparent- bomb it forward from clearances - disgusting.

Hawthorn weren't mucking around - they came to play and the effort from the Carlton team especially given half rotations was commendable - very astute coaching.

so for mine (so far) Tutt/Whiley/Gorringe no go on exposed form.

B: Tuohey Jamison Buckley
HB: Byrne Rowe Weitering
C: Thomas Gibbs Murphy
HF: Boekhurst Kreuzer Everitt
F: Walker Casboult Lamb
R: Phillips Cripps Curnow

IC: Graham, Kerridge, Simpson Cuningham?

I know he polarises people but I thought Waite looked okay for us last weekend. Was a bit weird seeing him with the curly hair and undercut but he looked very fit and moved well! :)

Still as inconsistent as an 18yo, after all these years...
