It will be great to see Darling, Kennedy, LeCras and Hill in the same forward line. I hope it is a structure that works out. I think Hill could potentially bring our team to a level higher than most other players. If he gets to the stage where he is running along the wing as well as crumbing off the resting ruck...well I think if his ceiling is yet to be reached then we could be in for some good times.

If Hill and Wellingham are able to impact contests consistently then then Shuey and Gaff's job gets a whole lot easier. We need these things to happen if we want a premiership middle third

Adam Selwood and mcginnity should not both be in the team at the same time. Only one of them is necessary.

There disposal is so shoddy it costs us goals. Mcginnity does not have the tank to play in the midfield and the required ability to read the play, watch him when he is doing a tagging role being 10m behind a player as he is kicking a goal as he has been caught on the hop.
I agree that there's probably only room for one of Selwood and McGinnity - assuming we've got a healthy list to choose from.

But McGinnity is a pretty good runner. I'm not worried about his tank at all. The reason he hasn't been used in the midfield is that he simply isn't creative enough. But if Scott Selwood is no longer used as a tagger, McGinnity may well become our first-choice stopper through the middle.

If you take Priddis and Kerr out of that engine room we lose a bit of grunt.

We have increased midfield depth this year and we must mix it up more and run more players through the centre so as the players have more energy late in games and late in the year, sick of the slump from rounds 13-18 most years, Kerr, Priddis, Shuey, Selwood are our go to guys and we need to increase that list. Rest Priddis,Kerr,Selwood etc (not all at once)and give some of the other guys a go.
Which "other guys" should rotate through?

If you want to expand our midfield rotation, surely you shouldn't be so quick to write off McGinnity.

Good depth wins you games that, on paper, you shouldn't due to the outs. Same way as if united had to start without Rooney, van Persie, Valencia and cleverly. Unfortunately based on last seasons game against Sydney when our depth was seriously tested, it wasn't where it should be. Lets hope that's changed so we can say we have "good depth".

Agree about Hill. A forward line of Darling, Kennedy, LeCras, Hill, a resting ruck and a resting mid looks very, very dangerous.

Yep.

I'm looking forward to looking at opposition defenders throughout the season and trying to pick which one is going to find himself way out of his depth. I know it wont happen all the time but occasionally there should be some very lopsided match ups.

It was quite dangerous without Kennedy and LeCras for most of last season. If it can gel properly with those two added in we have a top two forward line (hawthorn's is incredibly dangerous and our only match and the two of them are miles ahead of the next best forward line imo), a top 4 defence, the best ruck department and then there are our mids. We really need 2 out of Shuey, Masten, Scooter, Wellingham or Gaff to take a major step forward. If scooter can play a whole season as he played the first half of last year we only need 1 more to stand up.

In saying that we would be royally ****ed if we lost both our main rucks or two good midfielders. In saying that most teams would. If we are going to compete then we really need most of our top line players to have good years. I'm sure im a year early but watch out for Cripps. Just making sure everyone knows now so that when he becomes a star i have this one in the bank. Goal kicking mid and while he will never have the kicking power, the weighting of gaff or kicking motion of sheppard he has something a lot of other players seem to lack, serious mongrel and attack on the ball. (His skills are by no means poor but they aren't in the same regards as those mentioned.)

Glass passed his fitness test and will play at this stage. McGovern emergency so won't be playing for Claremont tonight.

So we're going to be fielding a team of short people?

Definitely going to be missing McGoverns height now.

I could not disagree more with your opinion on Bradley Dick and i will be more than happy to change your mind. :)

Let's look at how he did last year overall. Not just the GF where his whole team got spanked.

Debuted for the Sharks in the reserves in round 11 June 4th 2012. Keep in mind up until this point he had been on a restricted training schedule that didn't allow him to partake in pre season as he was rehabilitating from a knee reconstruction.

Round 11 reserves 2 goals

Round 12 reserves 2 goals

Round 13 reserves 2. 5

Round 14 reserves 3 goals

Round 15 (ELEVATED TO SENIORS) 2.3 goals

Round 16 bye

Round 17 2.1

Round 18 4.4

Round 19 0.2

Round 20 bye

Round 21 2.1

Round 22 6.1

Round 23 3.1

Round 24 3.2

Semi finals 2.4

Prelim final 3.1

Final 0.1

So that's 36 goals & 26 behinds in 15 games. Keep in mind the only two games all year he didn't kick a goal in were the two games they played the Claremont Tigers who were the best team all year. They won the WAFL GF and the Foxtel cup and kept a very tight leash on Dicky boy.

He averaged 2.4 goals a game. This is coming back from a knee reco with no pre season under his belt. The kid will be a very good player for us if he can keep his body fit which is the only reason he wasn't given a game last year though he was elevated as backup for the finals.Dick earned his elevation to the main list the bloody hard way. I take my hat off to him.

Lastly go to this link to watch the video, this was his haul of six. Love the snap of the right boot, kid can kick with either foot and is a real goal crumber, just what we need.

nice stats mate and the link is a beauty . Like i said " please " prove me wrong

My concern would be that that forwardline will limit our midfield rotations compared with swapping Hill with a midfielder. Obviously, if LeCras can spend time in the midfield that helps. Also if Hill can do the same, that would give us the best of both worlds.

Really looking forward to seeing Kennedy more then anyone else. There's no need to tell me he was injured last year, but when you look at the games he played before that happened, he really was pretty poor. After bagging what, 7 goals in the opening game against the dogs, the next 4 games i think before he got injured weren't that crash hot at all from memory.

And naturally he was a bit underdone when he came back at the end of the season so you can't really complain about that.

A nice injury free Kennedy playing consistent footy sounds pretty exciting. Hey Dargie, hey Dargie....... just my opinion bro

Dont forget kennedy had a very limited pre season for memory.
The 7 goals in the first game was prob a bit of a shock for everyone.

^ I think Woosha said if it was the normal season Round 1 he would've played, but that there was no point in a NAB cup game.

Gets harder and harder to see where Embley, and to a lesser extent A Selwood (and hopefully McGinnity), will fit into the team at the end of the year. We have great depth at the moment.
To be honest I don't think Embley has a spot in the team other than as a sub.
We already have Gaff, Rosa and Masten as our running outside players, and were we to add another or if there was an injury, I would prefer to see Sheppard given the opportunity.
I wonder if keeping Embley as a specialist sub is a viable option
