Apparently Ellis got injured in the intra so probably didn't expect him to play.

No Amos either, bit dissapointed but I'm sure will see him soon maybe they want to keep him away from prying eyes until the real stuff starts.

Hale, Rough, Gilham all injured or recovering.

Who else is missing?

That's a seriously strong squad. to take into these first round NAB cup hit and giggle matches. I have to admit i didn't expect to see half of the players i have highlighted. I expect the players to come out of the team will be from that list.

A somewhat strong team means selection 24-34 can be trail/questionable selections. Hill, Kelly, Schnieder and Wanganeen being the main ones i'm referring to.

My guess is the coaches have decided to play the more experienced players against the harder bodied Tigers and Roos players and giving the kids a chance to impress against GWS next week.

A little disappointed not to see Amos there.

Will be interesting to how Wanganeen performs at this level.

I expect him to go well.

It will be a good test for him particularly to see how he stands up against the bigger bodies as that is the query on him for mine. He doesn't quite look as much like a little kid out there as he did last year having seen him in the match practice stuff this preseason. He has good intensity and pace and is creative - could be handy for us. Looks like he has a good head on his shoulders too.

Interesting to note that, 20 of those listed players played in that PF last year. So that's a pretty strong line up. :thumbsu: Will also be interesting to see how Young and Bruce go. Boumann is another.

Yes keen to see what Young & Bruce will do against an opponent instead of a scrappy Intra-Club Match

Looking forward to seeing and signs of improvement from ..

Go HAWKS !!!

:D:thumbsu:

After seeing Amos at training a couple of weeks ago, I'm not overly surprised he isn't listed for this round. At no fault of his own (obviously), he is extremely raw. All the other guys were teaching him by shouting out during some match simulation on where to stand, where to run, who to man up against etc. Obviously this was happening with other new recruits too but they already had that foundation of knowledge given their exposure to the game. No doubt that Amos has great skills and pace, there is just a lot of development to go. I'm expecting the Hawks want to start strongly against Richmond and North but I wouldn't be surprised if Amos was included against GWS the following week as it could be a lower intensity game.

Richmond have named pretty much everyone on the senior list that isn't injured, although I'd expect the senior players to be eased in by only playing one of the games, particularly Reiwoldt, who only just returned to full training.

I expect Hawthorn (and North) will do much the same.

Had the great pleasure to meet Amos last week.

Fantastic person. He will take a while to learn the ropes but he is just a lovely guy who wants to learn - and is pleased to be playing on an oval with grass !!! :D:thumbsu:

he hurt his knee in the hit out last Friday, resting. But he aint up to it.

Poor bugger. Can't seem to take a trick.

He is someone we are going to have to invest 4 or 5 years in on our list if he is going to make it - a bit like Suckling. Has ability but his body is not at the level - needs time in the system.

It is also going to be fairly mild on Friday so might as well deploy the old timers in nicer footy weather, could be 40 degrees next week. :p
