geeze why are pies supporters so dirty on freeman? why are they attacking his character?

dont get it

Freeman owes them his first born child because they kept him on their list despite his injuries.

why would anyone guarantee 300k..sheesh.
I actually don't care so much about this.

If they have the money, then all good. Some Saint supporter was saying that they'll struggle to pay the 95%. Fair enough- what's an extra 100k? If they rate him (as we do- apparently Hine is ropable) then they can take the punt.

But yeah, if we are only gonna get a third round, I'm happy for him to be sent to the PSD.

Neil Balme came out and said as much. Not all of us care. But yeah, there is the argument that he was cared for under injury at a cost.

Anyway, crazy Collingwood supporters and all that...

What was your point, then? That Jesse Hogan is a good player after two years on the sidelines? Pointing out the exception like it's the rule isn't a terribly good point to make. Yes, some players in that situation turn out well. The vast majority don't.
You don't rate a player's worth simply because he has or hasn't managed to get onto the field. I trust your list manager knows his worth. Hogan was used to back that theory but that was lost on a few.

We got Davoren from STK to replace Buttifant, it rains soft tissue injuries ever since he arrived, and now Freeman is leaving because of mismanagement? Well played, STK!

A few loud mouths are.

A lot of us a really disappointed that a top 10 pick is leaving without playing a game, which might be coming through as bitterness.

Some of us are struggling, like fans from all clubs, with what this brave new world of player movement actually means when it negatively affects our club.

I don't think the majority of Pies fans really think that Freeman is being an arseh*le, as opposed to the above factors.

The top 10 pick that they kept on their list for 2 whole seasons through injury? What a great club Collingwood is. Can't imagine Freeman would still be on a list after 2 WHOLE SEASONS with his injuries at any other club. He owes the pies everything. He'd be nothing without them.

he was contracted! what contracted player wouldnt be "cared for" let alone a first rounder

Freo is an absoloute gem of a bloke, I have known him for a long time.

That is all...
Care to share what you think is the reason he is leaving? Guaranteed money rather than heavily incentivised? (which is absolutely fair enough in my view) Dissatisfaction with club handling of injuries? Desire for more opportunities once fit? All of the above?

This. I don't get what moral obligation some fans think Freeman owes us. If we'd shown above and beyond faith to a player by say extending his contract early when he was hurt, or offering him a contract when he was hurt and no one else would, that would be different.

I think we've done the right thing by him in terms of offering him a potentially lucrative new deal, but can't blame the kid for checking out his options. Apart from anything else, he's spent more time in the rehab room than with his potential team mates, so it is maybe unsurprising he hasn't put down roots that make him want to stay.

You're right. We should act more like the supportive way Essendon fans treated Ryder walking out?

Well I was happy for him to leave, we mistreated our players and he had his reasons for going so I accepted it. You just have to cop it when players leave. Be it for more money, more opportunity or cause they hate your guts, that's how it is now.

spot on and thats before you then take into account the pies loading up on players further pushing him back in the pecking order

We had a Collingwood supporter on our board earlier, speaking sense. It's going to be hard to for the Pies to get anything valuable for a guy that is so high risk. He suggested Freeman and 2nd round pick for St Kildas 2nd and 3rd which sounds about right.

Very smart move by the Saints going after Freeman. 300k is still under the AFL average wage. They'll get a highly rated youngster in on the cheap during a lean draft year. They have cap space to burn for a couple of years, when they challenge in 2-3 years he'll either be apart of it and over it his injuries by then or moved on freeing up 300k in the process for a free agent.

I would hope we get a bit more than that, and that will come down to how badly do the Saints want him, which all of us are guessing at. Time will tell.

At that level of compensation, I'd be tempted for the club to refuse to trade and take the chance that he'll suck it up and play for us rather than risk going into the draft. Probably wouldn't work, but what do we lose?

What do you think you should be asking for him?

So pick 25 and pick 43 for Freeman and Pick 27?
Freman is worth pick 43 and merely a 2 pick upgrade?
Get a grip of yourself, we're not ******ed.
