Do you know if players like Baldwin and Callow are eligible in the pre season draft and if they are, if we can sign them to single season deals rather than two years?
Every undrafted player is eligible for the pre season draft mate.

Samson's stature reminds me a little of Gary Dempsey playing at North Melbourne.

Pretty disappointed to be honest. We traded an absolute up and coming future gun for a pick upgrade in the first round (yeh yeh I know we got a 2nd rounder too which is pretty average anyway)...only to trade that first pick anyway for a future first where Geelong are expected to be top 2. Why would we do this?! Strange strange decision.
We ignored Carroll and took a player who wouldn’t have even been drafted. We are lucky we have depth..but that’s not a reason to get complacent.
Really hope MRJ makes up for it.

Higgins future gun ? Far from it easy replaceable kid didn't want to work enough earn his spot in the side was his call.Not convinced cats finish top 2 alot to play there to early to concede that.
Carroll was past by many clubs so maybe something to read.Complacent ? In what way back our recruitment team have proven it in the past facts a there and a strong hand in a highly rated draft in 2021.

We obviously picked him for need .
Brisbane had a pick just after us and also took a ruck .
The future first pick is a good result for next year .it allows us toget a good look at kids for next year and also allows us to target a player from another club .

I honestly have never heard of Samson Ryan until 3 days ago on 1 of the phantom drafts of reports but thought ohh yeah Rookie pick selection
We used a 2nd rounder on a 20 year old 3rd/4th league Ruckman , Yeah maybe he would have been taken by Brisbane but seriously he is not NicNat/Grundy or Gawn. We coughed up more than we paid for Nank and in all honesty Darcy Cameron had done alot more at WAFL level both as foward and Ruck and was cheap as that should have been the range. If he was gone then pick another as insurance in the rookie draft.
We should have taken Carroll , Rioli , Ford and a Rookie Ruck
Also watching the highlights on the RFC website - Thought it was Tyrone Vickery

Could have should have back our recruitment team they have delivered us 3 flags and unsung heroes like Baker, Broad, Short, the list goes on.
I was against Drafting Callow & Baldwin but would be happy to take a look at them with a rookie selection
But would be happier if we ended up with Kolar & Treacy
How compromised was this year’s draft with all the academy picks and no Victorian leagues for the entire season? Smart decision by the club to trade out a pick in such an unknown draft to have a stronger hand in a much stronger draft next year. Even if cats make the gf which is a big if that pick is still around the 17-20 mark. More likely we just scored a pick in a strong draft around 15.
Back the club in, have they got it wrong lately?
Surely by not using our last list spot this means there is a delisted free agent we are going to sign? Only other explanation could be we upgrade another rookie this morning. To be honest there aren’t really any delisted guys that appeal to me.
Edit: Venables could be a star if he has medical clearance. Trouble is most guys never get over concussion issues unfortunately
