Maybe, just Maybe this is a Healy / Gilchrist situation whereby Wallsy has really seen something in young Riddle and has “manufactured” a way to get one of our existing backup rucks out to get Riddle in.
Admittedly the 199/200 cm is not ideal for a modern day 1st ruck but I do love the sound of his sticky hands and athleticism.

Worner would’ve 100% been delisted this year had we not given him 2 contract extensions before he’d even debuted.
Out of all our WAFL regulars, Worner is the most consistent at performing at a high level. Would've won Peel's b&f if he had played as many games as Ras. He wouldn't have been delisted. He's become the scapegoat because he had to be upgraded as per his last contract, but Brodie or McDonald are the ones that would have made way otherwise.

I remember there was some vision where we drafted Jack Hannath in the pre-season while he was training in the NT with Melbourne, though he wasn't on their list at the time they were probably committed to drafting him.

Anyway, I think the thing with Knobel was that he projected as maybe being a better back up that Reidy because of his leap, but both of them are young with room for improvement. Neither of them has shown much so far in the way of positioning for marking the ball around the ground vs their opposition or as options to go forward and kick a goal. Reidy is a bit more coordinated with his disposal and actually has a decent left foot kick.

Hannath was genuinely distraught when that happened

Forgot about the rookie draft and just catching up on the news. Doesn't really bother me ... I think this "Knobel is going to be a gun" train of thought has grown legs based on very little evidence. We wouldn't have risked it if the club thought this was true.

I wouldn't have even minded skipping on a ruck and going with a half back like Artemis or Retschko, or a forward like Toner.

Hoping we get Artemis down to the club for train-on and see if he can impress enough to be added if Jones is put on the LTI list. Not sure why nobody wanted Artemis, he seemed to have enough attributes (kicking, speed, agility, endurance, WA MVP) to warrant a late/rookie selection.

WAFL form doesn’t correlate to AFL level. Don’t think Worner has ever shown anything that suggests he’ll be anymore then a fringe player at best. Definitely not enough to justify two contract extensions (one in 2022 and one in 2023) before he’d even made his debut. We’ve had a vacant wing since Acres left that he could have made his by now if he was good enough.

Not trying to knock Worner, but the only reason he’s still on an AFL list is because of the silly contracts we seem to give out willy nilly. Agree re Dockeroo that we need to be more ruthless in that regard.

His round 1 game he was one of the best on ground before getting concussed. The rest of the games he played have been as sub. He's behind Walker, Chapman, Wagner, and Clark. He's good half back depth. We don't really have any others except Aish.

He genuinely could have been.

No, there's a reason all of us who watch WAFL rate Knobel significantly higher than Reidy and why GC took him despite having 3 other genuine AFL rucks on the list. There is a decent chance Knobel COULD have been our first choice ruck in a few years. What if Darcy is forever injured and doesnt turn it around? Knobel gives you options.

It is shit list management and deserves a melt
💯

That’s a replacement for Walters. It’s 1 for 1. I meant additional small forwards. I believe there is a term for it? Something about being deep?
He’s better than 1 for 1, Son Son has been shit for a while so it’s better than a replacement. Cooper maybe I can’t see it personally, more a HHF and Delean the jury is out. Reid looks too creative in space to be a small forward to me.

Yep stated the same in max knobel thread.
Absolutely freo deserve this no question- gives you even more rage when you think the only reason they had to was due wanting to give Quinton ****en narkle a spot for his bff bolten

Now with that said how ****en petty are GC?- absolutely gifted top 10 picks and tapes by vic clubs over the years but no they want revenge for losing Jeremy ****en sharp lol

The actual worst part about all this is poor big maxy been caught in the middle - GC have , Witt’s, read and moyle on their list -in what world is knobel getting game ?

**** I hate that club
What has Narkle got to do with Knobel?

The move of Worner upgraded pushed out Knobel.

Narkle is SSP rookie list sign on. Basically I reckon the club thought about Emmett as a rookie option but Narkle is an upgrade. I’m still underwhelmed by Narkle being added but in comparison to Emmett I’m ok with it.

As for Knobel. If they really wanted to avoid his potential loss then they would have delisted McDonald. Narkle has zero impact on Knobel. They are both being considered for Rookie spot. The club always run with 6 rookies.

GC wanting revenge for Sharp? Knobel makes no sense for them, nga ruck last year in the top 10, Moyle is one of the better back up rucks in the league, and Witts has another few years of footy in him.

GC have Witts, Moyle and Read. Freo have Darcy, Jackson and Reidy. And with Witts much older than Darcy. Yet it makes no sense for GC? Right.

Freo and GC have the same amount of rucks and Knobel would be 4th in line at both clubs, and probably closer to a game with GC considering the end is approaching for Witts.

I'm starting to think it's a testament to just how strong a post season we've had when we are melting over losing a 4th string ruckmen who may never have gotten a game.

If that's the biggest exit we've had this off season, we've done pretty good. Especially compared to the "mass exoduses" we've had the last couple of seasons.

Wow, I really am in "glass half full" mode today.

Insurance when moyle leaves at the end of next season
