No, there's a reason all of us who watch WAFL rate Knobel significantly higher than Reidy and why GC took him despite having 3 other genuine AFL rucks on the list. There is a decent chance Knobel COULD have been our first choice ruck in a few years. What if Darcy is forever injured and doesnt turn it around? Knobel gives you options.

Richmond were the campaigners, could have easily just accepted 10 + 18 for Bolton and Kept 14 from Baker to take their guy Faull. But needed to “win” the trade, I ****ing hate them for it.

A lot on here seem to have a soft spot for Knobel, nothing wrong with that of course.

I've never even seen him play, but all we've done is throw away two years of investment and development in a guy for no reason, and now we have picked up another player who will need at least two years more development to even get to the level Knobel was at so we're even further back.

In 2 years could be our lead ruckman if Darcy keeps getting injured.

We could have delisted
Jaegar, Aish, Delean, Walters, Jones (? Rookie), Reidy and no one would have bothered to poach them. I would of happily let Reidy get poached before Knobel.

I was big on the Knoble train after a couple of league games with his leap and ability to get hands to it + competing at ground level well for a very tall player.

Last one or two he played gave me pause when he was repeatedly out of position in general play and labouring to get to boundary throw ins. Plus he is very thin.
Much higher ceiling than Reidy but much lower floor.

Better go delete the earlier posts either way...

We’ve signed 2 rucks for 8 years a pop or so.
Don’t really care what Knobel is doing at WAFL reserves

At the end of the day, I think we probably needed to get rid of 1 of Reidy or Knobel and get a younger ruck in. Both are probably top 3 rucks in the WAFL seniors, both had interest from other clubs offering a clearer path to senior football, and if by next year both were gone we would be left holding our knob in our hands with back-up rucks much like 2023. This way, we can stagger development.

I agree that we lost the wrong one and the better prospect, but fwiw it sounds like there were multiple teams that had a look at Reidy. I feel people have gone from him being our saviour if Darcy gets injured to discarding him coz he had a meh 2 games.
