He is going to be good I have no doubt, but 70 kilos at present is a problem and my cornern is we really need him to be AFL ready in2022,,but I am not sure of that
I think people are overstating the need for a player to be ready round 1, we aren't winning a premiership next year, we probably aren't even contending, our window is still likely 2-3 years away so I don't mind a project player if we think they are worth the effort

Ratts would be licking his lips at the prospect of NWM, tallish outside winger with good footskills. if he starts clunking contested marks too, ratts would have died and gone to heaven.

in all seriousness though, NWM is probably the closest fit to the program we are building though. this is a high potential player with some flaws in his game. so it's not like selecting a billings here or say a dunstan who was almost ready made body wise. this is a guy who will require work but the upside is huge if it gets realised.

i say its the right fit for our program because we just hired a specialist development coach and we also have a great indigenous welfare officer with some excellent leaders. for example paddy ryder could be invaluable to the development of NWM on a day to day basis.

i know we talk about go home factor, but how many players have lost to that? 1 in cripps in 10 years? plus how many of the SA boys ask to go home when they play in Victoria?

we have a strong group of ready made players so the pressure isn't on for him to come in and perform, like there was for say dunstan. i think we have the ability to really home in on development here.

it would be exciting to see what can happen putting NWM into that program and see what gains can come out of it.

Flighty, low possession, long term project winger who is a "wonderful young man".

Has there ever been a surer thing than Nasiah in a saints jumper tonight?

plus a tallish outside winger, Ratts couldn't part with the pick quick enough!

Not many draftees play a lot of games in their first season, if we're relying on them to get us to finals then it's going to be a long year.

Interview today with Hill, he said he wants to play half back next year, does that factor into NWM plans?

Ratts is already getting Owens as a tall run all day winger who loves marking contests

Of course and I agree we shouldn't rely on any draftee next year, but a few people have said no to NWM because we don't need more wingers we already have Hill, turns out we don't have Hill as a winger

i think its unlikely to happen this year. the wing requires an insane amount of running ability. for example take someone like Langdon, he didn't come in and play on the wing in his first year. he played mainly on the HFF. it wasn't until after multiple pre-seasons did he have the tank to play on the wing.

but the longer term vision might be that he moves onto the wing.

it could be someone like Billings plays wing this year. given his injury issues this season. someone like Clark might be ready to transition there. Hanners might be fully fit. Seb Ross might make a move there. Dmac has already played pretty well there.

Spot on, weekly half marathons isn't for the faint hearted.

Sorry if it's been discussed. Anyone know if NWM has a left foot? Highlights I saw only show him baulking to the left, kicking on the right.
He kicks to the right off his right pretty well in those highlights, but he'll have a lot less time and space at AFL level, especially if people know he doesn't have a left.
The HUN todays says this about him:

“An incredibly balanced player who delivers with precision on both feet”…“The best kick in the pool”.

With that said, I'd still rather take Goater or Sinn if it came to it. I don't think the rewards outweigh the risks with NWM.

We should be looking forward to our NGA Kyle as well as the as well as Windy and Owens. Said to have some cyril traits.
Speaking of Cyril, what was his average possession count? Seem to remember it wasn't too flash, mid to late teens usually.

If we get NWM he may be that type of cream, don't expect him to play like Steele though.
