I suppose he'll have less luggage to carry at Geelong, without the hair straighteners, and gel, and mousse, and rogaine, and bronzer, and moisturiser, and hair curlers, not to mention the time he'll save on organising lawyers and alibis.

And the grog...and buckleys ego...which is designated as above the allowed luggage limit

Not rated by me. Has some well known acts which appeared to be unprofessional.

Others have said that he was professional in his dealings with them, but conceded that there were some poor signs.

Too much of an Uncle Buck type character who is just too soft to bring out the highest order of discipline.

Soft isn't a word that springs to mind when I think of Balmey.

Just curious what Collingwood supporters opinion is of Neil Balme. Is he respected for the job he's done at the Woods?
Bit of a conundrum Balmey in many ways. I have had people who should know swear black and blue that he is very intelligent and does a lot of good work. I have never seen any evidence from the outside looking in. You mostly hear from him when someone has screwed up. What the hell all the chiefs do at Collingwood has me beat for a long time. He also comes across very differently to how he played.

As far I’m concerned the bottom line is success and the current regime hasn’t produced it so changes are needed. It shouldn’t start or stop at Balme but it’s hard to argue it shouldn’t include him. The frustrating thing is that I can’t what would have changed in the last few years for Balme to be chopped now. Particularly so after the last all encompassing review before this one.

As for the Cats, he certainly brings a wealth if experience at almost every level of football. He played, coached and was an administrator at successful and unsuccessful clubs across different leagues. The way I see it Collingwood have nothing to lose from replacing him and Geelong have nothing to lose hiring him.

I think you're forgetting all the handbags he'll now have to carry.:)

Held the position at the richest most powerful club in the country for almost a decade where they rebuilt and went to back to back GF appearances. He has to know something.

Assuming he keeps up his role with KB on SEN, Geelong will get a lot more media coverage and this should reflect in increased memberships and attendances. So he will at least pay his own way regardless of whatever else he brings to the table.

I heard he plans on bringing a mixture of sweets and savouries to the table.

Gee you've got to love the way Collingwood supporters give a bloke who has served them for eight years a roast.

I thought Eddie McGuire was a perfectionist. If this is the case, how did Balme hang onto his job so long?

Maybe because he was quite good at it?

You should have heard what was said about him over the last 8 years.

Why would he lose it now?
If Eddie was a perfectionist along the lines you suggest then can you explain Malthouse for me because it has me F****D. The reality is Eddie hires but he doesn’t fire. He is too loyal.
