If we're still in this position early next year, change thread title to Wheels Fell Off.
Have they ever been on?

It's not a big deal, they need to get contracts and procurement sorted first, actual construction can happen relatively quickly.

Sounds like Rowey reckons the facility size has changed due to cost though which is much more concerning

If you have a look at our financials the last few years, you'd see that we aren't in that great a financial position and we don't make much money. It's not an accident that we have a pretty average coaching panel.

Poor on field performance means no finals income and less merch sales
Falling crowds with less discretionary spending
Weaker economy
Market where our chief competition has been performing well.
Been unable to develop any alternate income streams.

As you say, I'm not surprised we're financially limited.

Now we have planning approval, I don't think its that simple to just reduce the size of the building to save costs.

We're sound enough, but it's not enough when you start looking at borrowing tens of millions of dollars.

That's probably what the engineering and certification firms we've engaged had told him.

They've got planning consent which was a big deal, but building consent is another matter.

I've no doubt we are close, but there's a fair bit involved in building consent of a facility such as this. Where we were hamstrung was it taking so long dicking around with council to get the first bit done.

I'm a civil engineer by trade, I can tell you that I'd be shocked if we were digging ground before the new year.

Ok, accept the position given your qualifications.

It doesn't help when we have an albatross around our neck financially.

We'll never have a level playing field financially when we're helping to fund a state league while other clubs like Collingwood etc don't have the same burden.

We've pretty much started every season over the last decade -1.2 million behind nearly every other club in the league before a ball is even bounced.

As much as people try and pretend that it's not a problem, it's definitely a massive problem.

So we need to find a coach in the building trade to save some $$
Campo come on down!

There has been no change to size otherwise an amendment to the planning approval would have been submitted.

I do recall that the last time you had a close look at the books you declared that the auditor stated we were “an ongoing concern” and sure enough we are still going.

You also said that there was no way that any bank would lend us money for a new facility.

Do you still stick by these comments?

I never mentioned “an ongoing concern”, if I did, I’m sure you could quote the post. This is about the 3rd time you’ve mentioned this without providing receipts. Care to? In fact, I’m pretty sure the first time I ever read “ongoing” was from you when you were trying to be smart.

We are on going and we are a concern.

And the Bored Member from Port Macdonnell naturally joins the party.

Talking of over the top comments, I am still waiting for you to correct your statement that the Crows auditor said that the Crows finances were an “Ongoing Concern*” and subsequently assured us that there was no way that anyone would provide a loan to the AFC for our new club rooms. were you WRONG?

It is so inconvenient when posters are made accountable for their comments, isn’t it?

*I checked the annual report and the auditor stated “The AFC is an ongoing concern” which is statement used by auditors to indicate that the entity is still In existence and…….fortunately we are still an “Ongoing Concern”.

Oh gee, here it is. The first time any sort of dullard trying to be smart used the term, “ongoing concern”. Nice try burger flipper.
