i wonder how all those people who pretended to use the abandoned park next door to protest the crows move feel about this? Honestly i've never seen so much lying. Its one thing to claim historic trees etc but its another to claim use when everytime anyone I know drives past, its a deadzone. No one to be seen.

Wonder if there'll be any professional jealousy

So will the SANFL men's team play here as a home game ?

Might actually get a crowd.
Yes, I believe it's the intention for both our sanfl & women's sides to play at Thebarton.

Hopefully not.

No one would turn up.

My suggestion which I really want the SANFL to run with.

Adelaide's "home" SANFL matches are in the country zone of who they're playing.

So looking at that

Adelaide play Centrals at Nuriootpa, Glenelg at Mt Gambier, North Adelaide at Whyalla, Norwood at Port Lincoln, South Adelaide and Victor Harbor, Sturt at Mt Barker, West Adelaide at Renmark and Woodville-West Torrens at Clare.

Being a country venue, the local Crow fans would turn up, and the opposition club can connect to their regional zones better.

Once we're in a national ressies comp, yeah, sure, go with Thebby. But in this SANFL, I'd rather go regional and this idea I think would work. Some clubs (Sturt in particular I think) don't want to host Adelaide twice as they're not getting the crowd boost that was expected. The only club that's consistently pulled it off is Woodville-West Torrens who decided year on year to have their family/childrens day against Adelaide every year. It really drew in the crowds.

If our SANFL men played at Thebbie the crowd would be lower than the AFLW. Possibly 2,000 - 3,000 for a good match but it wouldn’t surprise me to see crowds below 1,000.
I agree, our fans don't care about the ressies as other clubs fans care about their team.

You might get a North Adelaide vs West Adelaide game and it's 1,500 North fans, 300 West fans, yet against the Crows it's probably 1,600 North fans, 100 Crows fans (generally the kids running around as their parents support North)

So it's plausible that we play at Thebby and we get like 250 fans, with 500 travelling fans. Probably end up with sub 1,000.

Just go country.

Do you really want our fringe players traveling all over the state?

That would only help drive young kids home if they’re not getting regular afl games.

Crows or not playing home games at then y at least has a benefit of both feeling like they have a home club they’re connected to (good and familiar change rooms), afl standard facilities every 2nd week and also playing on Adelaide oval dimensions which can only help the development of game plan familiarity

I understand your thoughts ....you can actually say that about most "primary" products

However there are taste preference trends, businesses look to tap into .....it became very sophisticated a few years ago, however a lot of major players have left the Cafe scene, for a variety of reasons ....as it turned out, impeccable timing

1. Ten Years ago Coffee Franchises were HOT & lead the market against amateurish independent Cafes

2. Independents ralied, improved their decor, and product ....Franchises didn't change their decor & became stale

3. Starbucks entered the market last, and after Franchise's were frowned upon

4. In Australia, the public prefer a sweeter coffee ....in America, it's more on a harder edge coffee ....Starbucks used American blended Coffee .....hence why it could never get a foothold in the market

5. It's simple, MELB offers a very competitive Cafe market ....competition = improved quaility of service / product, to gain an edge

if it's competitive, you'd think the coffee would be decent. No accounting for taste I suppose.

Doing tours all over the state has got balls on it

On the other hand, playing every game at the other teams home was a selling point initially to get a team in the comp .. because Adelaide fans would turn up and it'd be financially beneficial to the home clubs. Not sure how that worked out

Doubt there'll be a National Reserves comp .....cost is too much, and during a time where the Soft Cap limitations are being criticised

Expenditure priority will be given to Coaching & development coaches in Clubland .....not, nationalising a reserves comp, where there's no tangible benefit for the massive extra costs

I even heard talk the other day, of winding back the existing expanded VFL .....I can see the need to strengthen the state leagues in BRIS and SYD, to capitalise on the Academy's .....National Reserves only weakens State Leagues, and I cannot rationalise where that's good for footy

What's the condition of all those Country Ovals .....do we want to risk knee injuries ect, playing on Country Ovals ?

When we have played previously, the AFL has funded ground renovations .....they're not going to put hand in pocket for SANFL matches

Not so sure about that, not too many come across as Gunston types, way more outgoing these days especially those we've drafted the last few years like Rachele, Nankervis, Pedlar, Soligo and Worrell etc....McAsey the extreme exception.
It can’t be a positive though. It’d be a drag traveling to country every 2nd week as a professional Sportsperson

Only until the South Rd works are finished. Then we get back some land that would have been used for the construction works and that’s where we get our MCG ground.
Ok but that could be many years ! Reckon it’s a really important part of this development

I'd take Mt Barker over Unley, Prospect and Norwood every day of the week.

I wonder what it's like for GWS reserves

8x Sydney
8x Melbourne
1x Canberra
1x Geelong

Yet apparently 10x Adelaide, 8x regional SA is bad.

You’re assuming you can dictate where you play to the SANFL? I’d suggest no traditional SANFL club will agree to this and the extra costs involved.

North had success playing Adelaide in Whyalla

Sturt don't see the value in fence hire and all the other associated costs and have played the Crows at AO after the league side.

I think Centrals are also looking at that.

Of the 8 away games, Sturt, South Adelaide and Centrals would probably be better off (costs wouldn't be much higher, and they'd draw a bigger crowd as their crows are coming to town)

North has shown it'd succeed, and I believe Norwood would succeed equally as much. (quick flight to Port Lincoln just like Adelaide/North did to Whyalla)

West is already taking games to Renmark, and they'd probably get a greater turnout and a larger success if they played the Crows instead.

Glenelg/Woodville probably the two teams I'd have question marks over whether it'd succeed.

I think this is a great idea. Many of these country venues have been recently upgraded and are better than some of the SANFL grounds.

That's a pretty good idea
