Would hope that Bassett would consider a position as welol as Harvey and Ayres, I also think that A Jarman has a lot to offer as well as B Phillips, what is Wilson back ground apart from what you have stated.

Bassett - No - a) old-style defensively minded b) finals game vs Eagles showed him to be one-dimensional and no plan B as with his previous coach c) hates Port d) is a favourite of Wrinkly

Harvey - maybe - probably feeling very negative about football right now.

A Jarman - puhleese! + a) another failed coach b) more mouth than brain c) a favourite of Stupid.

B Phillips - No - a) left us once before b) another failed coach

Wilson, Ben - left field

Wilson, Michael - Yes Yes Yes - a) brave b) intelligent c) respected by players. Possible defensive coach.

Walsh was offered a shitload of cash, Bailey avoided an embarrassing return to the same position and the sense of failure that would imply.

Peeps need to chillax.

Is hard to chillax though.

We have a history of being inept with these things while other clubs are busy signing coaches we want

I call bull dust on that statement we have good history and it's only recent history which is primarily due to external budgetary constraints.

Broad general swipes at our club making us St Kilda ish isn't right!!!!

Port Adelaide's start up position and concessions put it in a position of power when the club first entered the AFL. Post 2004 Premiership two things happened 1. Mark Williams publicly alienated our biggest benefactor and 2. the appointment of Peter Rohde to a high ranking position within the club. Combine the two and you have financial stress meeting high level organizational incompetence.

It is hard to chillax because we NEED to get this sort of thing correct right now, for the health and future of the club. We literally cannot afford to spend another year winning 3 games and playing awful, unattractive football. I do agree we have normally been quite proactive in this area though

I'm not saying the club needs to chillax. I'm as anxious as everyone else to see who Port can get, I just find it hard to criticise the club on two non-appointments and with perfectly logical reasons.

When we hire Knights we can all go bananas.

it seems that every other club has filled their assistant rosters without needing to wait on the saints though

Walsh is the big one for me. The word filtering through prior to the appointment of Keith Thomas as CEO was that he'd signed a letter of intent to join Port Adelaide. Suddenly all goes quiet and the next news we hear is that he's agreed to a new contract with West Coast.

Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not. But talk of Thomas coming in to curb/re-direct spending was rife before his official appointment and rumors abound now.

It's worrying that we apparently had assistants all but in place and then have them sign on with other clubs to fill what are essentially the same roles they'd have been filling at Port. It can only be about the money that's being offered.

The appointment of Knights, based on his terrible coaching at the Magpies and blatantly arrogant and dismissive attitude towards our tradition and history would not only suggest a football department completely void of any understanding of the skill set required, but also a Board totally out of touch with its supporter base.

I can't find one positive thing to say about Matthew Knights.

Pretty sure he had run-ins with a large number of players on Essendon's list too.

Remember though, this rumour seemed to come from 5AA. Could just as easily be made up entirely.

Yeah, originally I was going to mention Essendon, but I'd only be speculating. The Maggies stuff was based on pesonal experience.

I sincerely hope it's a 5CC beat up. I'd rather Thunda Power on the coaching panel before Knights.

More than a rumour. Know the physio who worked under Knights and the players continually bitched about him, had no respect for him.

DO NOT WANT!
