The first question is does the club continue down what Walsh was trying to achieve next year or do they start again?

The answer to that question will determine who our next coach is..

Fagans last meeting with Walsh was regarding our 2016 coaching set up. I have no doubt Brendon Lade was at the top of that list.

I also think 2 years out of the game rules Woosha out. He is the perfect man for the situation he joins us in. Or as coaching director going forward

I didn't hear the part where he ruled out next year.
I'm not for a minute saying I want him next year or would be comfortable, I just didn't get the feeling he had completely ruled it out, I maybe completely wrong though.

It was the bit when Dillon asked him that he hadn't ruled out coaching but why not coach in 2016.
Woosha then gave his reasons.

I think your correct on Lade

I've always had the feeling that Lade was our succession plan target and would have been Walsh's senior assistant in 2016

Agree, especially about Lade.

image.jpg Worsfold said he is not ready to coach in 2016 in this interview. That's not to say he couldn't change his mind or be a director of coaching and guide a first time head coach.

My guess based on what they have said is they will continue down the path he started. We are one year into the three year plan

That makes sense & cluey guy.

Wonder what it would take to get him back to the crows. Would be hard I expect given his ties to the west.

Had forgotten about him and his previous connection with the club

Strikes me as someone out there who is like Phil

Would not be at all surprised if we are chasing him or do so later this year. Could be a good get

In the 5AA interview he mentioned that his mind wasn't in the right place for the rigours of being a head coach and that he couldn't see himself being ready for 2016. However, I felt that a Director of Coaching style position was a completely different proposition and one that he may consider. However, that was intimated and not said straight out (from my recollection).

Never say never

Any response is based on a moment in time and who knows how he will respond to the same question in 12 weeks time

Going by the AFC presser I don't believe that he absolutely closed the door on the possibility

And if that is the answer Lade or Camporele are favourites as you couldn't expect a Dew or Ratten for example to put aside their own philosophy's as head coach..

Not sure if it has been discussed but Lloyd last night on FC said that Goodwin is a brilliant match day tactician, which sort of surprised me. He's not ready to be our head coach but one day in the future.... Years end we need someone as close to Walshy as we can get. Geez still can't believe this has happened...
Not the first person to say that. He's the best coach of that generation. Blew Essendon's socks off as a coach straight from playing.

I'd love a Worsfold/Goodwin combo but it won't happen. Worsfold/Dew next best if we go a young gun.

Campo has been our midfield coach for years now, which has been an area of our game we have really struggled in when it comes to tactics, structures etc.

Is he really the man to be in charge of a whole team?

I'm sure roo will get his man whoever it may be . The selection criteria will now include one extra but it will be the most important one.

Are.we not ranked number 1 or 2 in stoppage work this year, I think we gave also been ranked in the top few over the past 2-3 seasons

Walsh, Richardson; they've confirmed what I've thought for a while now - the senior coach has to be supremely driven and intensely focused; demanding, concise, consistent with his message, and in his handling of the players.

Other coaches can implement the game plan, help develop strategy and the like - but the main man has to be UN wavering in the message and principles he's implementing.

Who on that list fits that brief?

Bassett and worsfold from the above list. BF members seem to agree
