I wouldn't jump on the word easily too quickly mate. We dominated you in clearances and kicked appallingly in front of goal!
You didn't get within 2 goals after time on in the 2nd quarter.

Gee the Tiger posters are up and about this week, must be buoyed by beating the bottom side.

Kind of funny. You would think Bombers fans, considering Essendon's track record, would not be so chirpy about their chances in late April/May.

Same could be said about Richmond's finals hopes every year..for the past 30 years

Track record? We lost 3 out of 4 in April last year, we recovered and made the finals.

Nah, Essendon did it easily. They were backing up with two days less break after beating the reigning premiers in a titanic battle.

This game could be the closest the Carlton folk get to a win for a while though, so can kind of understand your exhuberance.

Yes, old mate must have missed the bit where we were 7 goals up in the last quarter.

Essendon need to win a final to be chirpy about anything. 11 years is very dismal. Most would be in agreement.

Richmond won't get far unless Reiwoldt matures from a show pony to a serious player.

Leading players on goals per match, with goal assists:

Player|Goals|GA
\Franklin, Lance|3.24|0.63
\Riewoldt, Jack|2.44|0.75
\Walker, Taylor|2.39|0.55
\Cameron, Jeremy|2.35|0.48
\LeCras, Mark|2.29|0.52
\Riewoldt, Nick|2.20|0.69
\Roughead, Jarryd|2.15|0.55
\Kennedy, Josh|2.10|0.51
\Gunston, Jack|2.06|0.66
\Pavlich, Matthew|2.01|0.59
Aside from Jack, which other players on that list aren't "serious"? At what point does a player become serious?

Listening to Maclure's bullshit will rot your brain.

The funny thing about this discussion is both Richmond and Essendon have fared worse in finals than Carlton in the past decade.

Ergo, this is all just piss and wind until one/both of them actually do something in September.

Neither team is anything other than an outside chance for top 4 (Essendon better than Richmond at the moment one would think), and we all know how tricky those EFs can be...

Even if Essendon fail to do anything this window I would still back them to do a mini rebuild and win a flag faster than Richmond or Carlton. Mainly because they draft better than those other teams outside of the first round: Hooker(pick 54) Gleeson(53) Merrett(26) Carlisle(24) Zaharakis(23) Hibberd(PSD) Crameri(RD) Baguley(RD) etc.

Must say our drafting/developing of players the last few years has been quite superb.

Haha Essendon didn't get out of second gear all day,got smashed in the clearances and still beat Carlton easily.
Lucky Carlton dont have goal kickers, they out played you in most areas and yet again Essendon had a poor finish to the game you cant keep blaming the pre season for those late game fade outs they are bacoming an Essendon trade mark.

The players have said a few times they don't want to use the lack of pre season as an excuse any more. imo I saw signs last week that these fade outs are coming to an end.

Please, Essendon breezed through the match, happy to let Carlton win it on the inside, wait for them to turn it over and kill them on the outside(your mob did the same in round 1). They put the cue in the rack in the final term, Ambrose rucking, Bagluley even contested a centre bounce. Carlton were always going to finish stronger with an extra two days break and the Bombers coming off a high pressure match against the Hawks.

The players aren't going to to use it as an excuse but you only needed to watch the final quarter, they were running up and down on the spot in the end.
