Not the cracker it probably could have been. More remembered for the ordinary and feral behaviour of Nth supporters who brought their own grog in, carried on like days of past, committee refused to attend half time function and old man Harvey abusing and waving his bottles of Corona around during the game. Apparently all this was due to the Tim Duckworth incident from a few weeks ago. After the goodwil from the previous home encounter at Lower with Boomer, a lot of people were disappointed with the behaviour. No doubt far too good onfield but off field left a lot to be desired.
You are a dreamer lower supporters carrier on like absolute **** heads in the 1st 1/4 went very quiet once the boys were getting a touch up. Fake club that has never stood for anything. To bar all north supporters players & officials from going into the rooms after the game was a disgrace.

You talk about ferals from North well I saw plenty in Lower Plenty colours that really stirred the pot. I get the impression LP thinks they are too good for Div 2 & should be in Div 1, well I'm sorry you are not good enough pure & simple so get over it. Not one to knock volunteers doing a role for a footy club on match day but there were some mixed messages from some of the LP folk that indicated the club has some in house issues to attend to of their own. How about you focus on your own clubs operations rather than the opposition. From a North perspective those that are associated with the club that got involved in some verbal conversation that was out of line have been spoken too & have been told it will not be tolerated. The End.

I find that hard to believe as the number one delinquent causing dramas at the lower plenty huddle is none other than the Harvey's old man. So you told him his behaviour won't be tolerated ? Give us a spell.

Unfortunately the crowd behaviour is simply and always has been a product of the geographical location of the club.

Will King stay on at Lalor next season if they get relegated? he could return to North or Macleod to play/coach with family?

Not sure he would end up at Macleod even with the family ties, he happily took $$$ to sign on years ago and then never came over, Macleod never saw the money again. Plenty at the club have a long memory.

What's happened at Lalor? Two seasons ago they were top of the ladder and 4 points away from being in Division 1. Now they've won two games, have a percentage of 46 and cop regular beltings. Saved only by Panton Hill being even worse.

My 2 cents,

Unfortunately for Lalor I believe they are just the victim of a declining participation in the sport of AFL at local/junior level.

When the pool is shallow it's hard to attract and retain players. IMO you now need to spend your cash on a gun business manager to bring in the cash.

Then you can buy players and put in programs to recruit.

The other issue is that a lot of guys that played for Lalor, thomastown, Epping as juniors/u19s/and even as seniors in the early days have had families and moved out to Meranda/doreen/hurstbridge/whittlesea etc

Its going be an ongoing battle for all those sides.

Yep fair call. I remember not too long ago Lalor were a fairly strong junior club that fielded teams in most age groups, whilst smaller clubs nearby Lalor Stars and West Lalor also fielded a couple of teams each. Now, Lalor Stars and West Lalor have 0 junior teams, Lalor have 2. Junior footy in the northern suburbs is a shell of its former self.

I agree Jaytiger, when Lalor were a power in the early nineties 95 percent of their team was made up of ex juniors.
It is no ones fault they are in the position they are now they are just a victim of changing demographics

Looks like a real struggle up high st with thomo, lalor and epping all losing juniors over the last few years,it does make it tough with the point system coming into place. having to recruit outside players and having to pay overs

Should Lalor ask the NFL if they too can be relegated to Div 3 at the end of the season? Or do they keep fighting next next in Div 2? I'm pretty sure Lalor will want to fight relegation but is that the best in the long term if they aren't getting younger players through?

What are peoples thoughts on a father and son rule within the points system?

For clubs like Nth & Lalor etc, it would help us to stay within the points quota. At Nth, we had a lot of great players whose kids played juniors elsewhere due to living outside of the area, or for other reasons.

Being able to attract such players at a discount would be fantastic I think. However, due to the DVFL record keeping, it might be hard to ascertain how many games were played by the fathers obviously.

yep youre spot on
the geographical location also explains the sookiness of how mont /lower play , even was going on in my day 80s, the greeny aspect

The final 4 should be settled. Unless Nth Heidelberg have a complete form reversal and let Thommo back in on Saturday. If results go to plan, then the last round game of Thomastown v Lower Plenty will be a dead rubber.

Yeah there might a couple of barrels in it plus cash for North to lay down this weekend giving Thomo a sniff at home against LP in final round. I can just see it, the LP bosses beating their chest & running to the league for another weekly investigation. What a joke of a club.

Rumour has it that Saddington (North coach) is very unhappy at North. Not aloud to take a drill at training or make a change game day without upsetting the Harvey boys. Brent to continue coaching there next year.

Only 2 barrels? C'mon, a dozen was the going rate back in 2000.

Well as much as I like to feel optimistic about our chances of winning a flag and going back up to div 1, it looks as though I'll be reacquainting myself with my Eltham friends for next season. We will be more than happy to host the Good Friday game first up:smile:

What the go was with the idiot at Norths game doing a massive burnout in carpark during game. Umpire mate told me about it.
