STM & Eltham should be a quality match this weekend.
St Mary’s seem to be missing a few contributors: Green, Antypas, Loccisano & Maggio to name a few! Are they expected to return this weekend?
You’d assume they would need all hands on deck to knock off Panthers who are nearing full strength.

End of season write up and a look back at my ladder predictions from start of March 2023
10. Epping 1-17
Pre-season prediction 10th
Ladder position 10th
Average points per game:50
Average against per game:102
Players used:51
All 18 games: L Judd, M Harrington & T Stockwell
Times in best: L Judd 12 & J Hollow 10
Leading goalkickers: D Rakhlin 26, T Muscat 13. 2 other players kicked 10+ goals
Epping have struggled last few years and now find themselves back in Division 3. Replaced senior coach during the year and have extended current coaches tenure. If they keep current list you would think will be competitive in Division 3 but not sure they bounce straight back up
9 Lower Plenty 2-16
Pre-season prediction 9th
Ladder position 9th

Times in best: P Flynn 12 & J Sacco, J Turner 11

A tough season for Lower Plenty who just survived relegation to division 3. They did play a number of younger players and were well lead by Flynn however will need to recruit to climb their way back up a very competitive division 2 in 2024.
8. Panton Hill 7-10-1
Pre-season prediction:5th

The Panton Hill faithful would be disappointed with their 2023 season. Recruited heavily and most like myself thought they would play or push for finals. Always seemed to be behind the 8 ball though and maybe a season that got away. Will be interesting pre-season for the redbacks for season 2024
7 Northcote Park 8-10

Again, another club that would be disappointed with 2023 season, after being relegated from division 1 in 2022, finals was the goal in 2023 but they come up short. Lack of goalkickers was an issue and will need to be address for 2024. Also depth was an issue so that needs to be addressed as well
6 Thomastown 8-9-1
Pre-season prediction:3rd

Leading goalkickers: A Capaci 30, T Hughes 18 5 other players 10+ goals
Another team that would be disappointed with their season. Thomastown were very inconsistent and frustrating to all concerned at Thomastown. Coach Bugden had signed a 3 year deal but finishes after only the one season. The list seems strong though with reserves playing finals and their under 19’s who were back after a 10 year absence will help the club going forward.

I heard he was close to Bundoora last year
Hefty suspension for Morang. 4 weeks for striking looks like he challenged and went to tribunal. Anyone have any time frame? Thats his year done. Silly thing to do last round before finals.

south and watsy lists a long way off being competitive in div1 the jump is just too large at the moment

Would be cool to see a side make it that’s not Eltham/Diamo although those 2 deserve it.. Hopefully we see some good footy and some upsets. Already hearing a few big outs for the Elimination final from both Wats and South..

Good, moronic act. Lucky to only get 4…
Not to mention that the bloke he hit had previously suffered a severe fractured skull!
To be fair and am certainly not agreeing with his actions he would be unaware of this and it is irrelevant if he is out on the field playing Senior Football.

I personally think St. Mary's are in horrible form at the moment. I'd love to be proven wrong though (I mean who doesn't love a close final) - Eltham by 75
Watsonia v Sth Morang will be a lot closer, I think Watsonia just have the edge at the moment and will get the chocolates - Watsonia by 8

I just watched it, disgraceful act, massive elbow strike after a player pushed him in the shoulder at a throw in with minimal force.
Then a Lower player come in to remonstrate and he flopped to the ground like a soccer player.
Could easily have broken the players jaw or cheekbone.
4 weeks min i think.
I think falling to the ground was an out to protect himself as he thought hed be bombarded by players. Dumb stupid weak act.
