Finals time and congratulations to Diamond Creek, Eltham, St Marys, St Morang and Watsonia in qualifying for the 2023 finals

Eltham vs St Marys
Round 2: St Marys 8-5-53 Eltham 22-14-146
Round 11: Eltham 12-10-82 St Marys 9-13-67
The panthers hold a 2-0 record over St Marys and will look to make it 3-0 tomorrow. They welcome back Donaldson and Weatherald for tomorrows game. McCormick (35), Owen (33) and Bongetti (18) have kicked 86 goals between the 3 of them and loom as the obvious forward half dangers while Donaldson (8) and Goodwin (7) have been dominate onballers for the Panthers.
St Marys are to be congratulated on making their first Division 2 finals series and welcome back Loccisano who has kicked 16 goals and been named in their best 5 times. The big out for St Marys though is Antypas who has kicked 43 goals this year and it will fall to Cicitta (35) and N Dean(29) to lead in the forward half. Bianchin and Hanlon have both had solid season for the Burra and will also need to have great games to upset the Panthers.
Eltham have finished 5 game clear of St Marys and will improve their record to 3-0 over St Marys. Eltham by 56 points

Sth Mornag vs Watsonia. Firstly congratulations to both clubs on making finals, the Lions made the jump from division 3 and to play finals in first year in division 2 is commendable. For Watsonia, it also has been a long time since playing division 2 finals and both clubs have earnt the right to play in this years elimination final.
Round 6: Sth Morang 15-12-102 Watsonia 12-14-86
Round 15: Watsonia 16-9-105 Sth Morang 11-10-76
It stands 1-1 with the home team winning on each occasion.
For the Lions it has been the evergreen G Moorcroft leading the way with 44 goals and J D’Intinsante with 32 ably assisting Moorcroft. Stefanile and T Hall have both had great seasons and will look to continue this form.
For Watsonia it has been Lucente (59) Charles (32) and Alfonsi (28) up forward who have had terrific seasons for the Saints. Boulton has lead from the front for the Saints and will again do this on Sunday.
It’s a toss if the coin for me but going with Sth Morang by 4 points.

Enjoy finals footy

Saddington steps down as Northcote Park coach
Big challenge for new coach, poor reserves, no 19’s so would hope a new senior coach might bring some new senior players

ELT vs SM - Eltham have a good side in and I think St Mary’s just don’t have the answers. I hope they can make a game of it which they did last time they played. Eltham 45 points

SM Vs Wats - good effort by both to make finals. SM to continue 22

Geez eltham looked good today apart from bad goal kicking. A complete different side now they are almost full strength

Did anyone else notice they had painted the bloody ground green!!!!! Weird thing to do I reckon.

Also suggest Epping get some bins around the ground, absolute moral of a decision needed there, maybe a bar on other side of ground instead of two 100m apart.

However, when the weather is OK Epping is clearly a finals ground (especially when painted green....) beer was cold, hot dog was excellent. Heaps of space and seems to be enough parking around back ground.

Look forward to returning.

Won't have to wait too long. Denny

They should just play the grand final next week. The gap between the top 2 and the rest was large and growing larger. It was deer in the headlights stuff today from St. Mary's.

If you were Eltham, would you want to win next week and go straight to the granny, or have Diamo play 1 game in 4 weeks when you play them at Preston? I see benefits in both....

Had never seen him play until today but Finbar Maley is a massive in for the panthers. Was dominant around the ground

Could not agree more.

That margin could have easily been 120+

What a matchup next week against Creek it’s going to be!
Bringing in a kid with solid VFL ruck experience to play with Goodwin is a huge in. Especially if Norman from Diamond Creek is iffy to play.

Eltham should be wrapt with the win and couldn’t do anymore , St Mary’s last 3 games have been 110 loss to DC, 10 point win over D3 Epping and a 29 point loss to TT. As someone said they are in horrid form

It’s a 2 horse race and not even a dark horse in it.

I've never had a good experience at Epping, the ground for mine is not a good one to watch footy at, it's an absolute pain to get to and to get out of if you're turning right!
