besides Francis and the hursty boys.

the rest have the experience but are quite injury prone
Deffinitely laurimar then maybe Mernda, appear to be going quantity over quality which could be a concern for there young kids. Not sure about Kilmore. Morang west and turtles quiet. Reservoir got a few in and sounds positive. Lalor in trouble

I'd be interested on how Daniel Francis goes. Was at Thomastown however got injured and put on some weight. Let's hope it works out for him as he's a great player when is on

Kinda depends on how you define "trouble"... From what i understand, the club is looking at a 2025 plan - A big chunk of energy is being placed on Auskick, 10's and 12's (Primary ages) which has numbers of around 100+ on a data base at the moment and gaining momentum... That's wildly successful in my eyes.

Also contradicts many of the comments on here from the past 2 weeks about what success looks like.

The challenge is to remain relevant, within touch and stay the course with a long-game vision... Good on the new committee for stabilising a plan and making sure the new recruits in 5 years time (today's juniors) develop with the logo, club, brand, location and grow into the future with passion.

your recruits for the up coming season are laughable

Somtimes I wonder why I even look at this page. Wasn't that long ago that Mernda was getting bagged for paying overs for older players, & being shortsighted & not planning for next year, & upsetting their current juniors, and now Lalor is "laughable" for building juniors & planning for the future. Which is probably the best plan for long term success. Doesnt seem to matter what clubs do, their gonna cop it. Some people here must just have nothing better to do.

Long term position is good but I was clearly refferring to the comment regarding teams recruiting and by trouble I meant for a team that has only beaten reservoir in the 30 months there seems to be just as much going out if not more than what appears coming in. Long term picture, I’m sure it is great. I certainly am not trying to make it a ch*tcanning of your club or the great job you have done Ben.

Agree don't know why I click on this link when I see new posts, so much laughable crap gets posted by many sad individuals. Personal vendettas against clubs and individuals, all posted anonymously. It can be a great forum for discussions about local footy, a topic we all love, but the endless crap is just embarrassing.

Nah, it's all good - I understand the short-term vision that some measure success around, playing within your means and ensuring debts are paid aren't valued as highly as we'd always like as there is no visible scoreboard or ladder for being responsible. The plan has been to grow organically, that will take years and generations.

Watsonia, Thomastown and even St.Marys are great examples of what can be achieved when the right foundations are laid - I don't see there current ladder positions as success... I understand how they got there and it's a better base to build from for future success. Will it all work, who knows - But at a minimum, its a long-term vision rather than a short-term fix.

Is it going to be to easiest path, of course not... But the current committee are playing within budgets available (and the NFNL obligations) which should be commended, not lauded. Zero debt, a healthy bank balance and a vision towards the juniors - Pretty solid attributes to have in today's local footy landscape.

As i understand, they have landed a MAJOR SPONSOR that is willing to fund every new juniors playing apparel for 2020... Something the locals of Lalor would welcome for their kids. #whatsuccesslookslike

When he's going he is unstoppable, I know from experience watching him at Macleod, The boys lost 15 odd kilos in the past two months so looks like he's pretty committed to making a statement this season which is good to see!

The player points system and salary cap has brought on a new era.

It just doesn’t seem possible to do what Heidelberg did when they won their 9 flags by buying anyone and everyone with virtually zero locals. That success just isn’t possible anymore.

Let’s just hope you guys can see a bit of on field success before you see your juniors come through.

They won 6 champ. Your side won 0

All eyes will be on Reservoir. Surely they can't produce these below par performances year after year. Teams like Old Eltham have already passed them. Hopefully them and Lalor can pick it up a pace

What Lalor is doing with there Auskick and junior program is fantastic. But I do agree they will need some kind of on field success over the next 4-5 years. They don't want to become a breeding ground for better placed sides on field and in the area. The likes of Thomastown, Greensborough, Bundoora will all pounce on these kids if they become decent footballers. We all know once they hit the 18-21 years of age, they will make there own choice on where they want to play football and if in 5 years time the performances haven't improved and they can see a better standard up the road, loyalty will be out the door very quickly! Hopefully by 2025 you are right and they are pushing for Divison 2.
