I heard today that mernda have been banned from buying a slab for their teams after games from Lalor FC by the the NFNL but every other club can, apparently some of their supporters ( like all club supporters) got some grog in on the 1st finals weekend as security didn't check them, and now the nfnl are punishing mernda for it. They can buy beers for their players at $8.50ea. plus eftpos fees but can't purchase a slab for their teams at a reasonable rate like all other teams, something that happens after every game at community football. This is clearly an agenda for someone at NFNL. ON the weekend clearly could see Paraidians & others drinking from Glass stubbies & mixer bottles which you can't buy at Lalor atm, obviously 2 sets of rules. Mernda must of stepped on a Black Cat or something.

Lucky Merndas bar prices help them be able to afford it ;)

What is Merndas obsession with grassing on parade

Hopefully some more punishments to come after blasting horrendous music during the reserve game.

I heard the club took two slabs into the ground one for the Magoo's and one for the Snrs, so now the NFL wants Mernda to pay $207.60 for a slab. Off to the bowls club boys after your game 😉

So how did the league find out about this? If they were smuggled in to the ground, the people hired by NFNL arent doing there job so not Merndas fault. Im pretty sure in all the finals Ive been to Ive never seen a league official ask where someone got their beer from . Question though needs to be asked would the supporters that bring in their own be happy if opposition bring their own to their home games? End of the day who cares people pay over the top price to get in so they should be able to bring what they want in. Becomes an expensive day at $8.50 a can as youve outlined on top of entrance fee.

what % do Lalor actually make from this and the canteen? Is it league set prices? Does the league get a major cut?

There is no requirement that you have to drink alcohol at the football

Sound logic.

If police don’t stop you robbing a house it’s not your fault :drunk::drunk::drunk:

Mernda by 4 goals. Just a bit better than OP around ground except for SG in the ruck. Also more experience in finals and think they will win GF next week.

Coffey done for year, not sure on Bryce, sneaky chance next week I would say.

exactly. I think most of us have grinned and copped it that 6.50 is the norm now, but 8.50 is pushing the friendship

Agree. Think you need to get the balance right on revenue generation v supporting local football followers v supporting responsible drinking culture. By that I mean don't push the prices up to a level that it creates other issues
a) Lower sales
b) Binge drinking before match at local pub/bowls club.

The proof will be in the numbers, but if the number of units sold over the finals drops significantly then the NFNL has done itself and its football community a disservice. But if people drink anyway - char ching $$$$ - and it will keep going up until the supply v demand trend alters.

Good summation.
I believe the the 17.50 charge will keep hundreds away for all games other than the grand final
