In all seriousness the stats don’t show the full picture for Nick - like that running 70m torpedo under pressure that generated a goal late in the 2nd on the weekend.. who even thinks of taking that kick let alone executing it beautifully?

He is remarkable only by average disposals as far as stats go. What I find remarkable about Nick is the uncanny ability to judge the contest, then be clean by hand to receive the footy and clean by foot to execute an effective kick. He is also very agile, generating space for himself without relying on brute force like Trac, Oliver, Cripps etc.

I don’t think he will be the GOAT but he’ll be really good - everything I say denigrating the kid is a joke so just relax, take a deep breath and enjoy watching him

Sounds like we have won you over..

Now is the time to swap that heartache of supporting the blues and put on the black and white stripes!
Welcome aboard!

Hahaha try as I might I can’t back the Pies in any game unless they’re shit, don’t mind you guys being in the 8 but can’t stand you blokes winning flags 🤣

Not bad contested figures for Naicos.

Contested possessions stopped counting once Daicos started accumulating them, apparently.

"Oh but they're not the right kind of contested possessions". The stat has always been flawed in isolation. But the numbers say the obvious thing, that more time in midfield has naturally brought more CPs into his game.

Sheezel has had a better 2nd season. And I don't think West Coast would trade Reid for Daicos. So no idea where this GOAT talk came from.
I would take Daicos over Sheezel. If your bulls can get to work (like JDG on the weekend) he thrives. He hurts you more with his possessions.

People will keep rolling out the excuse of how terrible North Melbourne are and that has some validity, but Daicos is at least a proven performer in a high functioning team.

Would Sheezel be worth more as far as trade capital or contract offers? I doubt it.

Reid would be my first choice and Daicos probably second as far as 21 year olds or under. Sanders and Sheezel the K-Mart versions, but still exceptional talents.

yeah I'd take Reid first. Then Daicos. Then Sheezel. Sanders is simply unproven at this stage.

Cripps had 24 for the Blues. Not a bad effort for Nick, but he has a long way to go

Just a shame Cripps can’t do it when it counts. Let’s look at the biggest games of their lives
Nick Daicos - Grand Final

Possessions - 29
Contested - 11
Score involvements - 8

Patrick Cripps - Preliminary Final

Possessions- 13
Contested - 5
Score Involvements - 6

Cripps goes missing when it counts. I suppose he is not alone. He has plenty of Carlton friends that do the same.

Mmmm left out the 2 goals part and that he was being tagged by Dunkley, and the massive padding he was wearing due severely broken ribs?

I reckon that might have effected him, just a bit... 🤡

Keep on rolling out the same vitriolic rubbish it will come back to bite you on the arse

The Carlton excuse factory keeps rolling. No wonder you can’t win a flag. Is that the same Dunkley who had 23

It's similar when people downplay Dusty's prelim final against the Pies in 2018 where he didn't do much. Had absolutely nothing to do with a big corkie he got the previous match that meant he couldn't move...

Daicos had a sore knee and couldn’t play, Patrick busted his ribs and played on

You’re right, Patrick Cripps is an Australian hero

Many Australian heroes are celebrated due to failure, Cripps just adds to the list

Leigh Matthews was 2 years younger and in his 3rd year he had 500+ possessions and kicked 40+ goals. I dont think anyone at that time said he could be the GOAT.

That is how stupid this thread is.

Ablett Sr' first 50 games managed 16½ disposals, 6 marks & 3 goals per game and won a B&F in his first year at Geelong. Granted he was 20 years of age when he made his debut.

People forget very quickly, particularly those in the media.

So not only was his performance pathetic, he let his team down by playing when he shouldn’t have. Selfish

Issue with the torp was if it was marked by an oppo player in any decent team that turnover would prob lead to a shot on goal down the other end. Bad spot to turn it over. But it worked out nicely.
