Nick Daicos is currently $12 for the Brownlow.

Is he too far back already? I have him on 7 votes at the moment (2 against Brisbane, 2 against Port, 3 against Carlton)

If Collingwood are to finish top 6, he probably polls heavily in the back half of the year.

I think he is worth a look.

Currently i think Merrett and Heeney are both on 15+ votes.
The more you put on him, the more you get back

One of my favourite things about this thread was when we were being told that the great players influence games, and despite Daicos being Collingwood's best player in their first two games in which they got flogged, his possessions clearly had no influence.

4.5 wins from the past 5 games, with Daicos continuing to be his team's best player.... silence.

The drubbing he gave Walsh with that final goal was very telling, a great argument settler

Back to Daicos, his reading of the game was excellent. For such a young kid to read it to this level is unbelievable. That level of game awareness is simply not evident in such young players. And to think he's a Covid kid and came through those years where one expects the kids development wouldn't be so advanced.

He has been a student at the exclusive "Peter Daicos Center for Kids Who Can Read Games Good and Who Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too" since he was born, and he was equal top of his class when they sat the end of year DNA tests.

Sick reference, bro. Your references are out of control. Everyone knows that.

It is cutting them up deep inside. Every chance they get to deny his talent, he shows them up - often the very next week. They cannot take it that this brilliant Collingwood superstar is absolutely every bit as good as he is hyped up to be.

In my eyes, irrespective of how his career plays out he will never be as good as his old man. Peter Daicos was mercurial and waaay ahead of his time. In fact, one could argue he helped shape the modern kicking for goals game. One of my all time favourites...and that's coming from an old time Tiger supporters with an INTENSE dislike of the scum!

I hear you, though being "as good" is subjective. He may surpass his father in lots of measurable ways.
It is hard to imagine what Nick or any other player would have to do to be comparable to Peter from that innovation and future game shaping perspective. But there's good reason for that.
Just like it would have been hard to imagine kicking goals the way Peter did before he came along, and then when he did, it would have been hard to imagine it evolving to become a commonly practiced skill and utilized approach to goal scoring in the modern game. Even imagining players would be playing on firm surfaces consistently in every game, almost completely free of mud patches inhibiting effective use of the ball's bounce to kick goals would have been hard.

Who knows when/if there will be someone comparable to Peter in that way, odds are it won't be Nick but I'm fine with settling for him keeping us in contention for premierships for as long as we have him playing his best football.
