The deep inhales are when he approaches a contest and they worry if he will get hurt.

Luckily he shirks them and loiters on the outside or is 3rd man in on tackles.
It must annoy you that this line has become ridiculous as he was second for clearances in the comp during home and away. Neale has overtaken him during finals. Nick's inside game is progressing fast, expect him to be clear number 1 next year:

Nobody honestly believes Nicky's clearances are of the same method or impact that Cripps, Neale, Danger, Serong etc win them do they?

He may rack up numbers on the stats sheet but his clearances and CP are almost entirely made up of swooping on loose balls and avoiding contact while his teammates block for him and feed him the ball at all costs.

Do you know what a clearance is. It's first effective handball in a chain or first kick that clears the stoppage.

Yep, someone like Cripps does get them differently he has to push and shove a lot to get them. I bet he wishes he could get them by simply reading it and reacting quicker, dancing around opponents and handling the footy perfectly nearly every single time.

Fly: "Keep feeding Daics those CPS and clearances guys, preferably in space"

Yeah Daicos’ clearances definitely don’t have the same impact as those listed above. Him getting clearances is way more damaging than the ball butchers listed above.

With the acknowledgement peak Danger got incredible clearances that no one else could he just couldn’t hit a target once he burst through. Also Neale might not be a butcher but his clearances aren’t the same quality.

He could become the GOAT but he could also have a major injury that stuffs up the rest of his career. Who knows? All I know it that hes a great player at the moment but he needs to win at least a couple of Browlows, Norm Smiths and/or 7 or 8 All Australians to be in the conversation. He has a long way to go.

You should read up the definition of clearance.

I have. It means you've won the ball at stoppage - the most inside part of the game - and either handballed it to someone that cleared the stoppage or kicked it clear yourself.

"Credited to the player who has the first effective disposal in a chain that clears the stoppage area, or an ineffective kick or clanger kick that clears the stoppage area."

He's already the best outside player in the game and is fast becoming the best inside player as well.

He WAS the best outside player.

Going on ball this season his disposal was largely ordinary and the fantastic foot skills he showed off half back were few and far between.

Didn't cope with the added attention at all well

'Didn't cope with the added attention' by being voted the best player in the competition by the coaches and polling more Brownlow votes than any other player previously had polled in the history of the game.

In his third season.

Whilst predominantly playing a role to which he is not best suited.

You really do throw out some gems...

Yet somehow scrounged 38 charlie votes more than last year. But I DO understand these votes weren't legit but of course Cripps were. Have I got it right?

Did he have any outstanding games while being paid close attention by an oppo players? I don't recall as much.

He's still got a long long way to go before he gets near any GOAT discussion. He's far too soft at the contest atm.

He receives 'close attention by oppo players' in EVERY SINGLE GAME HE PLAYS.

No player gets more attention from the opposition, during both game day planning and on game day, than Nick Daicos.
