Reading this board is a bit bemusing, I don't understand the anger. You all know that you're rebuilding, and while you rebuild you will have a lot of players that are just placeholders until you can get the list to where you want it. Unfortunately that means waiting for the draft/trade period for a few years in a row. Short term results are completely meaningless to you, but every week people on here are going crazy that you're losing.
While I appreciate the dose of reality, it's also very easy to fall into the mindset that every deficiency is because of the list build. We have seen regression since last year.

If I'm Hood & Co I'd be getting a review of our list management and player development processes done first.

All the while keeping an eye on coaching and player buy-in / morale but not acting until a solid conclusion is made on the first items.

Yep, I’d agree with this. Should absolutely happen.

Personally think it's harsh to judge Noble this short into his stint considering the state of our list, but it's becoming increasingly apparent that I'm in the minority here on BF in terms of this position.

I really think some folks here rate our list much higher than it is in reality, with well over half our players who have been considered 'best 22' at some point over the last 12 months being either plodders, or guys whose best footy is long behind them;

Bonar
Bosenavulagi
Corr
K. Hayden
Larkey
Lazzaro
Mahoney
McDonald
Polec
Bailey Scott
Turner
Walker
Young
Xerri
Ziebell

There's some names on there I'm sure people will argue for, but the overall skill level of these guys has been poor for years, and it's not just a recent Noble development for most of them.

The fact that several of them are so vital to our structure is a perfect symptom of the sick state of our list.

This is a multi-year rebuild, no matter who the coach is. I'd rather our young guys have some consistent coaching for as long as possible, especially considering the whole Scott➡️Shaw➡️Noble fiasco.

That is a frightening list of turnips.

There’s also a lesson there in throwing money at ordinary players.

6 weeks into 2022 & David needs to do some self-assessment.

  • Two rucks isn’t working
  • A back 6 of Turner, Walker, Atu, Young & Scott isn’t working
  • We have the worst skills in the competition
  • We have the worst pressure in the competition
  • We have the worst defensive press in the competition
  • We have the worst forward structure and entries in the competition

What will he do to address this?

Nothing- not capable of doing this job .
He will tell us in 5-10 min in the pressa “ how we have improved from last Season “ 👍

There is no structure. What are they executing to?
There is structure, players have no faith in each other and are getting sucked into the contest.
it’s doubled fold too, as their fitness isnt up to scratch, so they can’t keep up with the opposition on turn over.. than we finally do get it, the players are fatigued to the point they can’t execute basic skills..
long story short we’re pretty much in a death spiral until fitness improves and we can get rid of a bunch of C grade seniors.

no coach is going to change it.

Let’s play the “look alikes” game 🤪

Agree.

This isn’t rebuilding. This is list destruction. Anyone putting these performances down to rebuilding is living in hope that something magically happens.

If we were rebuilding properly you would be able to see genuine improvement and some semblance of game style.

All we see at the moment is a massive mess and players going backwards. That is the anti-rebuild.

I’m attached to North, not Noble. He’s on a rolling contract. Pencil in Buckley, Clarkson, Lyon or Longmire first, then don’t renew nobles rolling contract
Noble has lost the players .
You can tell by the players body language & lack of ability/ effort to have the slightest pride to respond to last weekends shallaking .

Hawthorn who most thought were equal/worse than us also beat Geelong last week. Says a lot about picking a coach with a good football brain and not some hopeless administrator.
I’ve got no idea if the facts back this up but I always feel the first year a new coach takes over they generally get good buy in for all sorts of reasons, so let’s do a comparison of Mitchell and Noble in a few years. Far too early to tell.

Im still backing Noble (she says nervously!).

Yeah look, now I know we’re in the endtimes:

  • war
  • pandemic
  • afflictions
  • Carlton supporter telling me it’s not so bad
