Uhhh... Heath Younie was a small forward drafted by the Eagles in the 90s.
When he went back to the SANFL he won a couple of Best and Fairests for North Adelaide.
He coached the Crows SANFL side and took them to the finals.

I'm not sure how much of the blame Younie does or doesn't deserve, but it's not as if he's some absolute nobody, boys-club appointment. He's qualified.

Thanks for correcting me. I was going entirely off memory, but I must have clearly confused his background with somebody else.

I couldn’t make this up - I literally pressed on around the middle of Noble’s press conference and there he was talking about the last quarter being “our best for the year”, “that we’ve gotta take those little wins” while we’re on “this journey”.

Like the team itself, I’m not impressed with anything I see. Maybe he’s the mediocre man for a mediocre club.

He’s not high profile, must be no good.

So, I'm just trying to get an idea of what some of you were hoping he would say in his presser. Something like:

"everyone played like shit, this team ****in sucks, next week we will drop 7 or more players and I expect that will mean we won't be thrashed every again?"

Oh no…He’s selling snake oil.

Says he will have a small reward for the final quarter, and then 2 mins later said it’s unacceptable to not start well and then play well once the pressure is off.

Nice contradiction!
Got a touch a the famous Bard line, “We don’t believe in looking in the rear-view mirror at North Melbourne, only forwards........but, History tells us....” 😳

Nah. That sounds like a response - we don’t do those.

I can only imagine if this is the way he addresses the playing group behind closed doors why they look lost. He doesn’t even know what he is talking about with a lot of his comments.

He keeps talking about energy and that we aren’t brining enough energy.

Well David, energy has nothing to do with talent or experience, so the only conceivable reason that the energy levels are not right, is because you are either not picking the right players or the players you do pick don’t actually believe in anything you are bringing?

Let’s not sugar coat it, energy is all about effort, so if the effort is shit he needs to take some accountability for his inability to to get the playing group to play for him.

A bit of window dressing there, probably more for the developing young players and the fair-weather fans. He isn't exactly going to sit there and go "these blokes are pus"

We’ve seen what they can achieve with effort. That’s what makes abominations like today even less acceptable. They choose when to bring it and, damningly, when not to.

He hasn’t tried it yet. Maybe he has to.

Why? Because they are pus.

It’s only an observation but I don’t think this playing group actually have any confidence in their coach and it’s now showing through a lack of effort.

It looks on the surface, he has lost them. Look at how many half arsed efforts there were today.

If he knows it, the players probably know it and most of the fans know it, does it need to be said in a press conference. Save something for behind closed doors

You’re a passionate North person, so with the greatest respect, I disagree to an extent.

It’s boorish to obliterate the players in press conferences every week. But it’s boring to trot the same bland positivity - in the face of something that’s clearly woeful - week after week after week.

Although to be fair, if he did start unloading on the players I might be inclined to tell him to look in the mirror.

The whole club is pus. Someone needs to draw a line in the sand. It’s insanity to do the exact same thing every week and expect a different result.

And we had a coach who did that. Ten years. No success. We need ruthless.

So the preference is to get up there and talk like a blithering idiot and to use a Denisism, piss down everyone’s back and tell them it’s raining? LOL

I think someone said it in another post, does he think if he feeds us enough shit we will be nourished?

100%

We wasted 10 years on the last bloke, hopefully this board is smart enough to recognise a sinking ship and not let it slowly fall to the bottom.
