Personally think it's harsh to judge Noble this short into his stint considering the state of our list, but it's becoming increasingly apparent that I'm in the minority here on BF in terms of this position.

I really think some folks here rate our list much higher than it is in reality, with well over half our players who have been considered 'best 22' at some point over the last 12 months being either plodders, or guys whose best footy is long behind them;

Bonar
Bosenavulagi
Corr
K. Hayden
Larkey
Lazzaro
Mahoney
McDonald
Polec
Bailey Scott
Turner
Walker
Young
Xerri
Ziebell

There's some names on there I'm sure people will argue for, but the overall skill level of these guys has been poor for years, and it's not just a recent Noble development for most of them.

The fact that several of them are so vital to our structure is a perfect symptom of the sick state of our list.

This is a multi-year rebuild, no matter who the coach is. I'd rather our young guys have some consistent coaching for as long as possible, especially considering the whole Scott➡️Shaw➡️Noble fiasco.
Larkey, McDonald a plodder or best footy is behind him. Lost the plot

List management team goes first.

Line coaches second.

If no improvement, Noble next.

Not because I think he's a good coach but we need stability. Our structures are dog shit and that's on him as head coach, but maybe with the right line and assistant coaches around him that can be improved.
Had you heard of Heath Younie prior to coming to us? He is effectively Noble’s right hand man, which is a massive worry.

Other than Blakey, the rest of the names don’t exactly fill you with any confidence that they are any good.

Add in the fitness department and hasnt this pretty much happened in the last 12 months?
the whole club has been overhauled by a group of people who’ve done it before and we’re at ground zero, in terms of everything.

I'm talking the new blokes.

Brady's legacy building West Coast's list has gone from choccies to boiled lollies very quickly. They talk about him now in the same vein as we talk about Cam Joyce. Luffy, well, no more needed there. They have torched a list they're supposed to be building, and have cultivated this situation. Brady and Luff may be new but the way they have handled contracts and personnel on our list has been borderline negligent.

The line and assistant coaches have seen us regress. We're winning clearances most weeks but getting smacked through forward and defensive structure. They may be new but I can tell you now, let's not keep coaching department cloggers. We've seen enough.

Fitness department gets time since it was the start of this year and we're always going to look less fit with the way we structure up.

I heard at the start of the year that we were viewed by some of the better run clubs as a basket case. I came into the year with optimism as we all did, but those in club land had a better gauge on it than we did as supporters.

Sorry no one here at the start of the year thought we were miles behind the Pies, Hawks, Crows and Gold Coast. We all thought we had better talent then those squads and off the back of our second half last year excepted to be competitive most games. But here we are miles off where we were at the end of last year. The playing list in my opinion is not that bad. In the preseason we were all so excited by our midfield depth. Now we have none. We have no confidence, no understanding of a game plan. It might not be all the coaches fault but they are a pretty huge reason why we are no good at the moment.

How many of these players were brought in under Noble’s watch?

At some point you have to give the senior coach, be it Noble or whoever, a period of time to build the list.

No issue with trying Young and Atu. They’re no good, cut them.

Who decided Mahony and Lazzaro were top 35 selections? Both have a crack, but look more like late/rookie picks skill wise.

Who decides that Polec and Corr are deserving of 5 year contracts on good coin?

I've defended Noble in this thread before. We have the worst 25+ group in the AFL, and with Hall and Cunnington out you can certainly have a fun debate about which non-expansion sides have been worse in that area over the past 20 years. I'll give you Melbourne 2013, but good luck to anybody trying to name another.

His pass mark for this year was unbelievably low, but we are approaching the point where you have to wonder if he is going to fail to reach it. I had lower expectations for this season than most on here, yet I am still left feeling like North Melbourne and David Noble have underdelivered.

We had two losses of 60+ points in both 2020 and 2021, and are already at three for 2022. The reality is that if these major losses continue to pile up, then David Noble will either be fired or not brought back for the 2023 season.

With a young list and a lack of consistent senior performers, he should be afforded a lot of patience. But a 10 goal loss to Carlton next week should start the conversation of whether he should coach out the remainder of the season.

Look I agree, if we’re directing the forwards to run back towards goal as the first option but I doubt it.
to me it looks like players who are looking for cheap goals.

McKay is a rock, our most important player during the rebuild, id honestly give him the captaincy next year.

but we’ve got a massive problem on the spread, we’re winning the contest because we’ve got two or three guys going in, so we either get a messy kick forward or we turn it over because as soon as it gets out of the contest, we’ve got three opposition players weve kept their feet, too our one.
I doubt this is coaching either.

footy a confidence game and we ain’t got none.
watch what happens when cunners comes back, you‘ll see cunners go for a ball and players like simpkin and LDU running ahead of the play to dangerous positions rather then setting up defensively or going for the same ball.

we’re also in desperate need of two running half backs with decent skills and about four small forwards.. we’ve got a while to go yet.

Oh no…He’s selling snake oil.

Says he will have a small reward for the final quarter, and then 2 mins later said it’s unacceptable to not start well and then play well once the pressure is off.

Nice contradiction!
The bloke is feeding us a big bag of dicks and trying to tell us how yummy they are.

For him to speak about reward after that abomination shows he has NFI about where this club is at.

No wonder the players don’t give a ****. This clown is talking about them improving and small rewards, when in reality they suck ass!

Our midfield is fine. Ruck situation needs sorting, but that's a different story.

Our forward and back lines are woeful.

McKay is a star but he's working alone in the backline. Hall was way better than people give him credit for, but for him to succeed in his role he needs half-decent defenders behind him.

Our forward line is... well, it's genuinely one of the worst forward line's I've seen in modern footy.

as if there was anything he could have said that wouldn't have had this reaction from you.

He could have said we were shit, he has no clue and he is resigning.

But you will just disagree with anything I say.

You must enjoy watching us make a laughing stock of ourselves.

The AFL world is pissing itself laughing at our club right now.

No, for some reason we must arbitrarily compare ourselves to having a slightly better percentage than the start of 2021 and ignore the whole year passing in between.

You must enjoy that bag, yummy ;)
this is the part you actually like isn't it? just assuming everyone who isn't throwing around grade 5 insults must disagree with you.

****ing tragic, mate.

Anyway, no, i don't think he's beyong criticism or any of that weird ass projection you guys do when talking about this.

Our forward line is... well, it's genuinely one of the worst forward line's I've seen in modern footy.

Heath Younie is not a name that is brought up enough.

He is our current forward's coach and is a mate of David Noble from his time in Adelaide. He had no experience coaching forwards or playing at the highest level. The appointment has been a disaster and is part of an alarming list of boys club appointments that we've made in David Noble's short time.

EDIT: Minor correction, as he was drafted by the Eagles but never managed a game.

It’s not the fact that we are losing it’s the way we are losing. There is no intent, no consistency and we are seeing 0 development. We are rudderless and we have a severe lack of game plan. This year we have gone backwards at a rate of knots.

Combine that with poor selections at the selection table every week (two rucks over Comben), Stupid list management decisions and poor drafting then you can understand why our supporters are frustrated.

We just want to see signs of progress, and at present we are seeing absolutely nothing.
We haven't gone backwards Rf, we've blooded another couple debutants who both have something. We've offloaded some senior dead wood and will do so again at seasons end. The fact we haven't gone forward at the rate of knots BF has expected us to doesn't mean we have gone backwards. We are treading water, we've gone from extremely shit to just very shit.

I just don’t rate anything you say.

I do like that you go to the trouble of disagreeing with all of my posts.

I’m living in your head rent free.

You know what I do with 99% of your posts, just skip over them. Not worth wasting my time ;)

Got that in one.

Uhhh... Heath Younie was a small forward drafted by the Eagles in the 90s.
When he went back to the SANFL he won a couple of Best and Fairests for North Adelaide.
He coached the Crows SANFL side and took them to the finals.

I'm not sure how much of the blame Younie does or doesn't deserve, but it's not as if he's some absolute nobody, boys-club appointment. He's qualified.

Treading water is probably a better way of putting it. However we were a lot more competitive in the 2nd half of last year, but you could probably put that down to having Cunners & Tazz steering the ship. I’m not expecting us to be in the top 8 I just want to see signs that we are on the right track. 3 x 10 goal belting doesn’t fill me with a heap of confidence, but it’s obviously still early days in this rebuild.

...yea ok dude, sure thing...

back on topic, you've already written him off, because firing the coach is exactly what we should do every year until it magically works. It's top analytical stuff.
