I don’t think they were the only ones. I would say that over 50% of the teams then were cheating the cap. AFL didn’t care, as it meant that the clubs they wanted won flags.
There was a moratorium in the early years of the salary cap in that if you were over and came clean everything was ok. I remember this issue with Hawthorn being raised in the mid 1990’s.

This is the biggest beat up of all time. Don Scott is trying to either get back at someone at the club or trying to deflect from the Winmar stuff.

Old news.

Whatever your take on the *2020 season you have to admit the competition itself is full of possibilities.

At the end of Rd 8 - pretty much the half way mark of the 17 rounds of H&A games - there are only two wins and percentage between first and 13th. Not even the top placed clubs could be described as secure.

Form has waxed (West Coast going from horrid in Qld to world beaters in WA) and waned (Collingwood started out as flag favourites after Rd 1 and are now just clinging onto 8th spot ahead of the reigning premier). Perhaps best typified by Hawthorn beating Brisbane comfortably in Rd 1 but 7 rounds later Brisbane are sitting in second and Hawthorn are 15th.

No doubt the shifting hubs have a bit to do with form variability and the packed fixture might also play a part as the season progresses.
eagles have also been lucky with no major injuries

He is still feuding with Jeffrey (refuses to come to club functions, etc.) and this is basically just an extension of his bitterness. That doesn't make it a beat up per se, but it is an important piece of context to keep in mind.

It’s a well known issue from decades ago. That was my point.

With both Hawthorn and Essendon now confirmed cheats. Should we lay claim to the 1985 flag?

Don Scott took out the dirty laundry on his podcast this week and said Hawthorn cheated the salary cap through the 80s and 90s with secret bank accounts in Tasmania amongst other things.
Also a nice comeback to Clarko as he keeps bitching about the free kicks in our final in 2016

Hawkins 1 week for deliberately elbowing a guy in the throat. [And they may appeal!!]
Crozier same for 'sling' tackle that didn't harm opponenent.

Some of these umpiring decisions are so damn weird. The in the back against Suckling a couple of games ago was absolutely terrible when it was the opponent diving to the ball and taking his legs out. The one just before half time in the Dees-Port game was even worse because the umpire was about 5m away, even the Dees player stood there like WTF as Port walked away with the ball they should never have even been in control of
