It's not a stellar field in the commentary box but generally I don't mind BT. His hypothetical observation is a little more advanced than Wayne Carey's recollections of our run into finals last year. Although in Carey's defence, I allow for the possibility that he's had a lobotomy.
A ‘lobotomy’ implies there was a brain there to work with. Unfortunately for Wayne, when they unzipped him they just found a Sherrin stuffed in his skull.

Playing against a team coached by the likes of Joel Corey, Matthew Boyd and to a lesser extent Bob Murphy doesn't sit well with me. It's going to be bloody tough to beat Freo.
Really? It's awesome to see our lads getting gigs. Much respect to our program.

Hawkins is too.

What I - and I suspect most here - find so annoying is that they push the boundaries just far enough not to be a free kick technically speaking BUT beyond the pub test of what seems fair.

It’s not really a knock on the individual. They are using their nous to get an advantage within the rules. Good luck to them. It’s the laws of the game that are flawed, and the instructions given to the umpires on how to apply them.

These loopholes are bound to appear and be exploited when the AFL insists on changing the rules on each type of engagement every few years. If they introduce change slowly, carefully and after extensive trialling, then let them settle for 15-20 years there might be fewer loopholes.

The game would be easier to understand. The regular fans wouldn’t be as outraged. The newbies wouldn’t be as nonplussed.
Ageing forwards have been exploiting this rule change for some time.

Its why I find Jack Reiwoldts incredulity when he gets pinged for it on occasion so amusing.

Hawkins rarely has this issue, because like Charlie Dixon or indeed Steven May it is passed off as a test of strength by morons in the commentary box.

For mine, its just another interpretation of the rules that is a sop to the broadcasters who need lots of ad breaks to sell us useless shit we dont want or need.

To clarify, the only part that doesn't sit well with me is them coaching against us next week. It makes our job tougher.

I am very happy that those three are upskilling by being at another club.

How many key forwards played well last night?

Pissed rain. Slow ball movement.

Not sure what Lobb was supposed to do really. In racing terms that was a total forget run.
All true. Furthermore, when a team plays a style that generates a total of 5 goals for a match, tall deep key forwards rarely do much.

I turned off the game at halftime last night. I hope I don't have to do so again tonight.
What’s for dinner mate? I’m home alone for the game tonight and it’s bound to result in a take away.

Any suggestions welcome. I should warn you I’m a bit of a food snob though. Anything I have must pair perfectly with 10 beers.

I'm thinking fish and chips. Haven't had it for a while. Was going to get Pad Thai or Mongolian beef but I'm not feeling like it now.

Ginnivan is the worst, sucked in to the campaigner that he doesn’t get free kicks paid for him anymore.

How anyone could want that in the game is beyond me, great rule interpretation change - now let’s see it applied to more than one player pls
Is it true that Ginnivan went to his hairdresser and asked for the Cody Weightman rinse?!

Man Collingwood can **** off, we’d wipe them 7 times in 10 games. We’re much much bettter than them.

Props to how quickly they’ve bounced back and the way they win close games as a young side, very impressive. But they’re not that good. Yet.

Would absolutely love to get them in the finals
