I remember seeing Blethyn playing. Pretty handy footballer. There was a Hawthorn full forward in the late 1950s--early 60s who wore glasses taped to his forehead. Can't remember his name.

Played for the Port Magpies for a stint in SA.

I'm pretty sure a few wear contacts as well.

Why are we waiting till 4 o’clock today for footy?

The official reason was to not compete with the Victorian's Good Friday Appeal wasn't it?

And yes, it's a good cause, but we couldn't possibly have a game on here, or WA, or QLD or NSW or anywhere else?

Imagine we started a Queens Birthday appeal here in SA in June or an Easter Monday telethon or something.

The AFL aren't calling off all football on that day across Australia just so us South Australians aren't tempted to watch the football instead of a telethon.

Insane if it was.
Incorporate it or something.

Good article about him on the Essendon website

Made his senior debut in the VFL Grand Final at just 17. Kicked 4 of their 8 goals, losing to Carlton by 3 points.

Used to wear contacts in games as well. In the GF he only wore one

I thought he coached somewhere too but couldn’t find it - maybe Westies?

EDIT: He went to Glenelg to continue his career but retired after a car accident and became an assistant coach there under Graeme Campbell. Was an assistant to Graham Cornes in the 1985 premiership

It's looking like a pretty good draft so far, top end especially.
Pick 1: JHF - tick
Pick 2: Darcy - unknown
Pick 3: Callaghan - TBC
Pick 4: Daicos - Tick
Pick 5: Mac Andrew - unkown
Pick 6: Rachele - Tick
Pick 7: Ward - Tick

Out of the top 7, you'd have to say that there are 4 clubs very happy, 2 still to be determined and one that is a huge chance, but is injured.

Looks a very strong draft.

Mac Andrew cant be far away from a debut, had a dominant game last week in the VFL

Fancy getting rid of Ladhams, when you're in flag contention .....and your only backup is an untried rookie ruckman 🤣

They rate Hayes more.

Guess we are a out to find out if they are right...

Have you seen him play ....even Port supporters aren't impressed ....ATS, simply a tap ruckmen, at Tim English's level 2 years ago

Got Strachan's number in the ruck every time they've played the last 2 years but.
