Nah, that game was terrible. Port fans would acknowledge that. Nothing to write home about. Honestly, they played better in every other game. West Coast are the most cooked side I've seen in a few years and Simpson will be sacked before the end of the year.

Gee, I can't wait till the West Coast v Essendon blockbuster.

Surely Simpson will be afforded leeway due to their COVID and injury interruptions?

This is what West Coast do. They ain’t competing this year so might as well finish as low as possible (including last) and get a good pick. Watch them shoot up to top 4 next year. 100% Simpson gets another year.
Last time I remember them doing that was 2010/11? Can’t remember that happening since

They have a lot of aging talent they need to replace, can’t see them coming out of their rut soon

I can safely say West Coast are no chance to make the top 4 in 2023. It's rebuild time.

They've pretty much been trash since their flag in '18.

Shuey, Kennedy, Yeo, Redden and McGovern probably all need to be thanked for their service and retired/delisted as of now.

NicNat is older than most of those guys isn't he ??

They took their chance though.

Yeah him too.

I think they will end up luring either English or Jackson back home. They should have salary cap space to burn.

They've looked miles away though. They've just gotten by with beating up on shit teams and winning at home. Any decent side has easily exploited their complete lack of run.

If I’m being honest, a young midfielder like Wardlaw or Hewett should be their priority, instead of two firsts on a ruck (as much of a talent as both of them are)

That said, getting Jackson in particular would be an incredible coup

By Friday May 6th we will 100% know whether Port are legitimate chance of finals. They must win both those games.

Right now at 1 and 5 Port have to win 12 out of their last 16 games to finish 8th. 13 wins usually gets you 8th spot. Already almost an impossible task. If they win both the games against St Kilda (4th) and Western Bulldogs (11th) it turns into 10 out of their last 14 and it starts becoming doable. Lose 1 of those games and its 11 out of 14 and to me thats almost impossible.

Why is it impossible?
Because they still have to play teams like Geelong x 2, Sydney, Fremantle and Melbourne

This means they have to win at the very least two of those above games and remain undefeated playing North, Essendon x 2, Richmond x 2, Collingwood, GWS, Gold Coast and Adelaide.

Realistically can a side like Port win the games needed? No. They are so far off the pace. The argument many use is well Sydney came back from 0-6 to make the finals. Thats true but Sydney still looked capable in those matches of actually winning games. Port are so bad I wouldn't trust them to beat North Melbourne and Essendon.

At worst I think Port will win six games for the year, at best 8/9.

Yes, they along with Sydney and Hawthorn seem to be the best clubs at rebuilding. I don’t think they’ll be competing in 2023 though, more like 2025-6.

The best outcome would be they squeak in to 8th, get smoked in a final, but Hinkley stays.
