Don't think McHenry's kick was the opposition free as I don't recall a kick taken after the siren? The question is if the Swans player kicked it after the siren when the free was given and since he was celebrating he probably heard the siren.

By the letter of the law the 50 should have been paid as he'd whistled the free the siren went and then he kicked it over the boundary but to me it's against the spirit of the game to pay it so it was probably right in the end.

You dont kick the ball into the grandstand if you dont hear the whistle. You kick it forward to score or kick it defensively to kill time. He kicked because he thought he won the game, but the game was still "alive". Game is "dead" when umpire calls time and puts his hands up to signal the end of the game.

I think it was courageous not to pay the 50. Paying it would have been the easy decision.

It's terrible.
Thats why people can't be bothered watching footy anymore.
There were 60 free kicks for the match and then the stupid decision to pay another free kick after the game has finished.
