Freo are contenders.

I reckon it’s:

Contenders - Geelong, Brisbane, Swans*, Melbourne, Freo, Collingwood

Will be decent - Port, Carlton, Richmond, Bulldogs, us**

s**t - Essendon, Gold Coast, Hawthorn, GWS, West Coast, St Kilda, North

* tho I wouldn’t be surprised if they dropped right back this year

** yeah, thats right. I feel we should be ahead of the craptasm in the tier below.
Richmond just bought Tarranto and Hopper in..

it has mostly been their ageing midfield that have been the worry in the past two years..

they have just solved that problem.

I forgot about Freo.. but I reacon this year was a bit off an outlier for them.. reacon they will slide back down before coming back up the ladder again in 2024..

Freo bought in Jackson and O’Meara. They are right up there.

Richmond I had to think about. Could definitely be contenders. Not convinced yet but wouldn’t be surprised.

Richmond with Hopper & Taranto?

Caught between a rock and Alberton. :drunk:

:D

Kenny keeps us safe as supporters, a new coach could be the difference for Port.

Friend, this is the great struggle. We (WCE) want Poort to crash and burn next year for the draft pick benefits. But an implosion will mean dear Ken is no more. And that prospect is very sad :(
So we just don’t know.

I did lol re JHF’s comments. Stable club. Umm, child, the supporter base have turned on the coach, President and lord knows who else and want them marched out the building 🤣🤣

After round 6 this year Richmond lost only 5 games - all by under a goal and 3 of those they just shouldn’t have lost. Dusty only played 9 games. They will be well around the mark

For mine

Collingwood (lot of momentum and luck this year)
Dogs (Dunkley massive loss, still weak down back)
Sydney ( hard to bounce straight back after a thrashing like that)

are the most likely to drop out - Carlton and Port most likely to go in

Nah.. I reacon Sydney will be really stinging from that.. they’ll be filthy on themselves.. and it will drive them harder to go one better..

they still won’t go one better and win it but they’ll still be very competitive…

From the Trade Period ....and factoring in natural growth, and contentment .....my POV is:

GEEL ....will slide - they have completed their mission, another year older, and lost their Capt ....trade didn't help for 2023

FREO ....big improvers - still young side, so natural growth - addition of Jackson & O'Mera, plus Fyfe fit is huge

BRIS ...on a par with FREO as the big winners ....Dunkley was perfect for their issues, as Neale was easily tagged

BULLDOGS ... They are midfield rich, but weak elsewhere ....adding Jones & Lobb, changes their tall dynamics, and I see them as in the fight next year

RICH ....who can deny that adding Hopper & Tarranto, doesn't put them back as favourites, with the 3 teams above

COLL, CARL .....Clubs will be better prepared next year ....they got the advantage of a jump due to new Coach's ....COLL to slide, CARL to improve slightly, but neither in contention

SYD ....I can see sliding out of the top 4 ...that thrashing has a huge impact on confidence ...they have key pillars that are ageing

s**t - Essendon, Gold Coast, Hawthorn, GWS, West Coast, St Kilda, North
The CROWS will sit above these teams

If Richmond stay healthy, with their additions, they are my favs for the flag in 2023 and the biggest threat to the Cats.
If Dusty can get back to near his best, with midfield reinforcements, they are definitely a threat.

History is against them. And their loss was the second worst of the AFL era ( in the fact it was over even earlier than the GWS loss but not to 2007 level)
Only 2 out of 10 have made finals after an 8 goal GF loss - and only one has gone to the second week of finals

Yeah surely taranto and hopper rockets them straight back into flag contention

I'm not sure Geelong additions improves them that much for 2023, but it will keep them up there in seasons to follow which is really annoying

I just need to puke.

I’ve just read the article on AFL.com re : Ken Hinkley.

Seriously, anyone would think he has won multiple premierships and never lost another player to another club.

It is seriously nauseating .

Exactly, we want more of journalists saying hoe awesome Kenny is... but we really need then to sneak into the finals next year to get an extension.

Everyone knows why the soap is on a rope @ Alberton
