Yeah, I mean the writing was on the wall when the contract talks didn’t resume fully, the shock happened at that time when we heard Poort was circling and then the infamous airport interview. We knew he was gone then. It was a shock, I think we all just expected he would re-sign, repay the club for standing by him.

Really disappointing tbh. Yes we kept him on the list for 2 years when someone of “lesser” talent may have been cut, but the club did do a LOT for him, time and resources over and above almost every other player on the list.

Poort may have a real problem on their hands at some point in the future 🤷‍♂️

Perhaps that thought process was replicated at a list management level as well. You stuck by him and he owed you, absolutely beyond doubt. But the open market is always going to have a club that will pay full tote odds for a player, even with a troubled past. So he gets to choose between paying you back or his full whack. He chose the $.

Absolutely 👍 The club was from all accounts “blindsided”. There are some elements of our club which, simply put, are still operating/have a mindset of a past era (s). I think the assumption was that we were loyal to him, and therefore he would repay the favour. It was a harsh reality check of the modern AFL world. In some respects a good wake up call. I’m glad we didn’t match the offer and try and push harder for him to stay, it wouldn’t have been responsible with the state of our list.

Houston also pretended to cop a head knock in the 4th quarter too. Around 8:40 left.

They are a bunch of fxxkn cheating little w***ers those powa players..

I watched the replay of the first half last night.. fxxk me Rozee just takes a dive forward whenever he feels any tackle pressure coming from behind him.. its just pathetic.

He did it in the centre at one stage and it was hilarious because Pedlar was ready for it.. Rozee felt pressure from Pedlar and just dived forward onto his stomach expecting Pedlar to follow and land on his back but Pedlar simply kept his feet and stood over the top of him… so Rozee had to quickly dish off the handball..

It looked utterly ridiculous..

I’d be pissed if crows players constantly acted up like that for frees.. its just so unsportsman like.

I am still trying to work out if the extra ump is a good or bad thing but it seems that Port of the past few seasons have been getting away with dives, holding, scragging of opponents and pushes in the back.. but arent getting away with it as much this season so far..

Drew’s whole career as a shut down mid has been based on him constantly holding and restricting his opponent.. he’s now being called on it and its making him less effective..

Cornes said on Footy Classified, Boak is playing sore

You go onto the footy field, no excuses you are 100%, if you are sore then he should take sometime off and recover but they won’t do that, can’t afford to rest him.

2020 and 2021 Premiership Cups (and not being played at MCG) were there for the taking for them and they choked big time. The moment is now gone.

Yep, always been the accepted position ....no excuses

So pivotal. 12 minutes to go it turned a 10 point lead into a 2 point deficit. From the dropped mark onwards we kicked 6 goals to their 2 points.

Ya wanna talk about season defining moments - thats a significant one.
Now THAT's a sliding door moment.

That would have some credibility if it was the only instance of him doing it

Agreed, and in similar situations better players keep chasing the player with the ball anyway. Take no chances.

His only excuse is he’s young and will learn, which is true - if he does

Oh they are going to trade Georgiadis to West Coast and they will expect their first rounder.

Guarantee that is what they are thinking.
This. In their delusional little heads down at Alberton they think they will get a 1st rounder from either WC (likely to be pick 1-3) or Freo (say 8-10) for Georgiadis...who cant even make it into their SANFL cosplay team. It is going to be a very long few years for them (I hope), as their top players are great, but beyond that they have b*gger all depth..

Did anyone apply for Front Bar tickets and were they successful? I assume a lack of email would suggest I wasn't :(

That’s such a cliche that if you take to the field, no excuses you’re 100%. Teams play players carrying injuries all the time and quite often it impacts their form and they get bagged for it.

Look at Doedee last year, played but needed surgery and it hampered his form. This year Butts has a shoulder. A couple of years back Tex played injured, his form suffered and everyone said he should retire. Comes back fit and look at his last couple of seasons.

Hawkins is carrying something and had **** all preseason, he can hardly run.

Put it on the clubs for playing them but they all do it, in the end though it’s the players reputation that suffers.

Understand it is a cliche and as the season progresses all players have niggles but isn’t Boak’s rib related which would have thought impacts more significantly on running/breathing ability?

He probably should be rested but they are desperate now to have their best side on the park.

Running and breathing is pretty important when playing footy ;)

Eugh, I still remember Sanderson's "You try telling Dangerfield he's not playing" comment from 2013 when Danger was massively banged up and barely looked like he could walk at times.

The Sack Hinkley thread is now up to part 8.
It even provided me with a fun fact.

Fun Facts with Grotto

Since Ken Hinkley took over Port in 2012, only 6 other teams have not made a Grand Final during his tenure.

Blues, Dons, Suns, Saints, North and Lions.
