"According to the families of three players interviewed by ABC Sport, the incidents at the centre of the review allegedly took place during Clarkson's time as head coach, a period in which the club won four AFL premierships, including a historic treble between 2013 and 2015. "

"Three families at the centre of the investigation have told ABC Sport about the grief and trauma caused by their experiences.

On account of their complex mental health challenges, and the need to protect their children, their names have been changed."

Jackson was not just quoting from the report, so maybe stop the line that he was just cherry picking. The quotes in the article are not from the report but quotes Jackson got from the families.

Eg

"When AFL draft day rolls around these days, Zac notes the over-representation of privileged private school kids and wonders how he even scraped his way into the 'system', but among Hawthorn's influx of First Nations recruits of the Clarkson era, his talent and drive were obvious.

Zac's AFL dream didn't come easy.

"Because I'd been drafted against the odds, I felt like I had to do everything right to succeed" he says."

You don't have those types of lines in a report

These two absolute arsehats dont even deserve to breathe the oxygen they waste..

These two clowns have led the charge against Izak Rankine in the last few weeks..

-“Izak is being given poor advice”
-“Izak Rankine isnt worth that”
-“Izak Rankine isnt gonna handle the pressure of Adelaide”
-“Izak Rankine could end up getting messed up with his family issues”
-“Izaks friends could be a real bad influence on him”
-“Izak Rankine is making a mistake here”

Do these comments sound familiar especially given what we’ve heard today?

All s**t we have heard from these two flogs and a couple of others in the AFL media since Izak requested a trade home..

and it goes to how they view this young indigenous footballer..

clearly with these comments they see Izak as a person who hasnt the intellegence and life skills to make a decision like this for himself.. as a person that is easily led by other both family and friends.. as a person that is too weak to handle pressure..

All with absolutely no evidence to back their views on Izak.

Two absolute low lifes.

And why is it that they have taken this stance to Izak asking for a trade home yet the other 15 players that have also requested a trade they havent said one bad word about?.. havent questioned their motives at all..

What sets Izak Rankine apart from all these other lads like tarranto, jackson, hopper, logue, Dunkley etc..??

Why are they singling out Izak and questioning him and his motives and none of the others?

Am I reading too much into it?.. just seems strange that Izak cops this s**t from them yet the other lads havent..
There's a line between appreciating the challenges that some indigenous players face, and patronising / infantilising them.

And to be honest, it's not always the "dinosaurs" who do that.

Indeed you don’t. I’ve written a few myself

I’m starting to become a little uneasy by the idea that the journalists story contains more lurid details than the report itself

I hope he hasn’t been encouraging and spreading the mayo?

I was wrong in suggesting it was an excerpt. I admit.

I think Russell Jackson’s record stacks up pretty well - his work exposing childhood sexual abuse in both AFL & cricket was a level of investigative journalism we rarely get especially in the Australian sporting media.

It’s disgusting how this can happen. It’s 2022 and shit like this happens? Who gives a shit what colour your skin is, you treat people equally and with respect.

How can you tell someone to get rid of their unborn child? You sick f**k

You deserve to lose your jobs and face the consequences

So what happens if Fagan and Clarkson are exonerated?

Whistle-blowers in the AFL system will keep their mouth shut.

Even worse will be the players/partners who took part in this investigation. They weren't named, but won't take long for people to work out who they are. If not already.

I’m unfamiliar with him.

Hopefully his involvement doesn’t become part of story
He's not nobody journalist... & has won gold quill previously.

He is fair dinkum journalist unlike much of the AFL media.

Just catching up on all this Hawthorn stuff, shocking allegations - have they been corroborated or we only have one side of the story?

Guilty until proven innocent?
