Last week I saw Hird claim that the issues at Essendon during his tenure were the result of "two bad men", I am guessing he's referring to Dank and The Weapon (Dean Robinson).

The fact that 10 years later that Hird still refuses to accept any culpability for what happned shows that he's learned nothing and should never coach again.

The sad thing is that he'll most probably get the job and a large portion of their supporter base will be overjoyed about it.

And hopefully they continue to be an off field basket case

Could you imagine us bringing Trigg or Birdman back? This place would tear itself apart lol.
That would be the final straw for me as a Crows fan.

Craig too. Part of me wants to see it just for the glory of the reaction

Did he specify who the other one was?

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say the figure is 550k a year, it's still massive overs for a player with his checkered history.
I think that is closer to the mark, but us about the going rate.

He is worth it imo... if he doesn't have any more off field issues... which was why he preferred the Port deal with less clauses

I think even Russian intelligence saw this one coming, since all the not very careful media leaks from the coterie groups the day after Rutten was first fired and then not fired.

Only club in the league that is a bigger basketcase than Adelaide.
Only?

North have been killing it...

They just read out Hird's coaching record, it was pretty average, Essendon are just dumb
This is dumber than dumb.

Speedy has been great for football but he is killing Essendon.

Hird knew & allowed the drug program... ruined the club... & now they are actually considering to welcome him back as coach.

If I were a Dons member, I would be messaging the club that I'm ending my association with the club.

Just beyond crazy!

That would be like the Crows saying we are sending our players on a camp this summer with Collective Mind in charge.

& bringing back Burton.

Would be a huge exodus of members... even many of the rusted on.

If you think about that for a second, that would send our Club backwards for years and years.

You then apply this concept to Essendon. They are mad for considering Hird as an option, let alone reappointing him.

There's nothing about North off field that approaches the sheer scale of the rolling incestual arrogance disasters at Essendon or Adelaide, they're just a small club who isn't very good, same tier as Gold Coast.
They weren't that small when carey was playing. They were a powerhouse.

I think they should take Hird back.

Seriously: they need to inject a galvanising energy into that club, at the moment it’s all too shit show at the F*** factory vibes

Something that gives the finger to the rest of the league and gets the fan base to rally around

Imho ... hird made mistakes, but anyone can make mistakes, like walker, you do the crime you do the time. But like other mistakes, some cannot be forgotten. I probably don't really care too much about hird being the coach again because i think what another club does doesn't really affect us and that's their internal issue. However it really does speak volumes to them as a club the way they handled rutten and what they are doing right now in desperation. It would be interesting to know the thoughts of the players affected by that whole saga.
