I know we poke fun at Kane Cornes and he can be a real ****head at times, but to run from Adelaide to Melbourne in support of kids who are struggling is a sensational effort.

Jake Niall from Herald Sun writes:

A former Hawthorn assistant coach gave evidence to the club’s cultural review, which sources said supported parts of the Indigenous players’ testimony about their alleged mistreatment.

Sources familiar with the review, who were not authorised to comment publicly, confirmed to The Age the involvement of the former assistant coach, who worked under Alastair Clarkson at the Hawks, as the four Indigenous families at the centre of the racism scandal engaged renowned troubleshooting lawyer Leon Zwier to represent them. The sources said the former assistant coach supported aspects of the families’ accounts.

Given Gils very close social relationship with Clarkson, surely he can't hang around just to make sure his mate is cleared....

That wouldn't be like the AFL boys club

Happy to help

Interesting he speaks about additional things in the Hawthorn report which align with what came out in the ABC article.

“I need to be careful, it’s a confidential report. There was actually more in the papers yesterday, more substantive stuff, than was in the report in many senses.

But there’s also some additional pieces in the report that haven’t come out. The flavour of what you read represents accurately the flavour of what’s in the report, if that makes sense.”

I’m pleasantly surprised the thread on the Hawthorn board is far more informed and balanced - not to mention accepting - than a lot of what is being posted here. FYI for anyone interested.
I think for balance, its good to look at the Hawthorn thread, Main Forum and on our board.

You get an opinion with a potential bias, the opinion of general public and the opinion amongst Crows supporters.

I think generally speaking the opinions are the same. Only real bias I noticed was on the North board, where you can clearly understand why they would be potentially biased. It definitely would setback their rebuild a couple of years conservatively.

No, the Hawthorn board is far more accepting of the accusers than elsewhere, particularly now it's been noted an assistant coach corroborated at least some of the complaints. There's no persecution complex over there. It's refreshing.

I think the lady saying that Eddie and his kid made them feel uncomfortable is highly unlikely to be because of his skin colour. Eddie has assumed that, but I doubt it would be correct. But I understand why he'd jump to that conclusion too.
So/ just continuing on the devils advocate path, is Eddie assuming racism where it actually didn’t exist then ?

No. You didnt read my post properly, I said its good to get a cross section from everyone. Its great that the Hawks posters are like that, but regardless there is an inherent bias as this is their Club.

Reading neutral supporters thoughts on this, gives also another difference in opinion as well. It culminates in an overall balance.

Could easily be perceived racism based on what's been told.
You can easily understand why Eddie would have this perception.

I did. If there is an inherent bias on the Hawks board, you would assume it's to protect their own, which isn't the case.

A lot of the neutral supporters need to read the FAQ on the Hawks board so they are least informed before they offload.

Informed vs uninformed doesn't equate to balance.

Club statement from Dale Alcock… Club statement from Dale Alcock

Fremantle have announced they are going to do a review too. Good to see a club getting on the front foot here and realising every club will have to do one pretty soon.
As far as I am aware, The Crows have been a very proactive club when it comes to indigenous players. In recent years we had issues but that was on the back of the camp. But the Crows have long had indigenous programs and McLeod was a driving force for continued improvement. This of course doesn't make things ok. A good club should always review and reflect upon past policies and processes with the goal to improve in all areas.

With Freo and Sydney announcing one, and the expectation that they will happen league-wide, I feel bad about dreading our review.

I want to believe we've been fair to all past players, but there's not a lot from the club to give me any confidence.

Why? Have you heard something that leads you to believe that we have historically treated our indigenous players poorly?

I suspect we will have one of the easiest reviews out of all the clubs considering all the shit that has come out about us already. Quick re-hash -> Done.

I thought the bit where he said the indigenous boys and all sides agreed they wanted a forum to test any allegation before it was made public

That says to me that lots of people are uncomfortable that this is out in the open before anyone knows anything about the veracity of the allegations.

No, haven't heard anything (beyond camp stuff), but frankly recently the club has a habit of disappointing. Maybe it's me, maybe the media pile-on, maybe justified.

My feelings are similar to if I had a kid who I expected to screw up. I want to think the best and be positive, and I feel terrible that I don't.
