My son sat next to Tim on Thursday and had a great conversation with him (initiated by Tim). Said he was a top bloke. James Hird was on same flight, Hird in business class, Watson up the back of the plane in a middle seat!

Seriously two games that came down to the last 60 seconds in a row was bloody fantastic as a neutral. Was a fabulous day at the footy.

Gather round has been fully embraced by all footy fans and it's bloody awesome to see.

I hope it does stay in Adelaide, but you know the AFL will balls it up somehow and do something like 3 gather round all in different states so then footy fans only go to one and it dies in a hole.

Adelaide is central, SA public love footy, just keep it here as the only one.

I think the Darwin team would also have a Cairns presence - Darwin is a long way off sustaining one.

Port need to suspend him for a minimum 6 weeks if the AFL don't.

Again.. Tex got 6 weeks for a slur that was in a SANFL game to a teammate that was overheard by somebody.

This is a slur that was deliberately directed to somebody in an AFL game.

It’s nowhere near worth “a minimum of 6 weeks”.

I saw this as an extremely awkward moment where Bucks made the crack about the camp, a few very uncomfortable laughs ensued, before Bucks realised he was sitting next to Eddie and had to give him a little touch on the arm to be like "sorry just having a laugh". Clearly others might interpret it differently to me.

I interpreted fairly much the same, Bucks shot was aimed at AFC, not at Eddie and the comment was in relation to Nigel Smart, while at the same time indirectly referring to the 2017 camp fiasco.

It should and MUST, the AFL will want to trial the concept in other states but IMO will fail for a variety of reasons.

The timezone and distance makes WA not attractive.

NSW and QLD will IMO struggle to get the big crowds, as it is they struggle to pack their own games.

There are people in the AFL that just have to change things to justify their existence.
Also, Victoria doesn't give anything away but boomerangs. They will want a cut of anything making money.

This time of the year, SA is usually blessed with good weather. Dont ever underestimate the value of this in attracting ongoing success.

When you come to SA in Gather Round you are almost guaranteed great weather. I say this as QLD and NSW over the last couple of years at this time of the year havent.

Have to agree , regardless of club allegiances the weekend has been a fantastic success for the State. I went to the Swans v Eagles yesterday then Hahndorf after and it was packed at most restaurants and pubs. Lots staying up there as well.
