Adelaide lost 1st and 2nd rounder then the following year another 1st round pick plus there was a fine involved. (probably to help the AFL to pay for their new baby GWS)
Trigg was also banned for 6 months and it wasn't backdated so he served more games than Whitfield will.

Almost every rule in the AFL whether its on field or not is subject to interpretation/bending/manipulation to suit ones agenda etc etc.

I think we should all be a little more understanding on this issue.

West Coast had Cousins/Kerr/Fletcher/Gardiner/Chick doing things comparable to what happened with Whitfield. I'm sure that many of us would be upset if West Coast had draft sanctions imposed, like people are suggesting with GWS. I think that a ban for the individuals involved is the most fair outcome.

The issue isn't with what whitfield did it's with the club officials essentially sanctioning. The argument between plausible deniability and outright conspiracy to defraud the drug screening system with the involvement of club officials.

Amusing as it is to laugh at Freo that is bad luck for Bennell. He was exciting to watch and the game is poorer for him not being out there.

Medical/sports science types, this is pretty weird right? I've heard of persistent knee and foot injuries but I would have thought a calf problem would be an easier fix.

The training reports on the Freo board saying that Bennell didn't do the 3k time trial but was doing a lot of work on the scooter

I don't think there's as much to the calf injury as Hagdorn would have people believe

That said he's had a long time to get over the injury so there must be some concern that it's still giving him some problems even if they aren't significant
