The end result of equalisation

For the most part teams are pretty even and it’s much harder to create a super team(s) so you end up with a group of relatively mediocre teams

It’s why injuries, or lack of them, has such a big impact.

Also a team that can put together a handful of superstars with some decent role players can win a flag (see Collingwood 2023)

Cull the league to 16 teams and the quality would be significantly improved. Instead the AFL are adding a team.
