No difference to change severity.

The medical research is unequivocal. Cushioning does Nothing to blunt the brain rattling inside it's casing.

Look no further than the last paddy mccartin concussion incident that ultimately was his last game.

Watch this to see the mechanics of concussion

What all of the anecdotal evidence at grassroots footy shows though, is that when you mandate helmets in kids, they don't protect themselves going in for the ball and have a greater incident of head knocks and collision injuries.

Thanks for those resources.

Some of that material seems to suggest that better helmet design can reduce the incidence of concussion.

The issue of helmeted players leading with the head (Basil Campbell style) is best regulated by the rules of the code.

Both those guys heads would have hit the floor - 3 weeks suspension !

‘Glaring neglect’: National Jet Express staff forced to scoop toilet waste manually on flight carrying Fremantle Dockers AFL players

Feel sorry for the airline staff for having to deal with all that shit on the plane.

On top of that they then had the toilet problem to deal with.

There has been a lot of discussion in the USA over recent years about helmets and brain injuries from repeated concussions.
It seems to be that it's not so much whether helmets offer some level of protection, but whether players go in harder and more head first because they believe the helmet will protect them more than it does.

Cameron cleared

Ignore the argument over whether or not Cameron’s tackle was dangerous or not. Everyone can have their own opinions on what level of suspension he should’ve received

I absolutely hate it when a player gets off because the tribunal made an “error of law”. It’s a farce whenever a decision is based on anything but the action itself

Worst case scenario and the concussion effects are ongoing, is Duggan then entitled to sue Cameron, the umpires and the AFL for not proving a safe work environment with the AFL essentially saying this was all good and within the rules?

Would be funny as hell if he did. Should do it now while he's still playing just to really kick them in the shins.

Consistency is ****ed this season. All the suspensions this year and this is the player who gets off Scott free twice. What a joke of a league.

I actually agree with the brissy fans, this shouldn't be a 3 week suspension based on action alone but if you look at the large swathe of 2 to 3 week suspensions that were handed out this season this one isn't out of place at all.

Christ Callum Browne was suspended for 3 weeks for running into an oppo player. What happened to duty of care I thought we were meant to turn the player side on when bringing them to ground.

Is there a lawyer in the house who can un-heck this article for me please?

Is the article saying because the AFL tribunal essentially missed step 1 of 2 for charging a player he got off an a technicality? So more of the AFL typical **** ups; it’s complicated, Laura Kane, type lawyers being lawyers

"Whilst we accept that the Tribunal found the conduct to be unreasonable, which is one element of the offence, it completely failed to consider the second critical element of the offence: that is, whether the conduct was likely to cause injury."

Oh what a wonderful world.

Doesn’t the fact that Duggan is out with concussion answer the second critical element?
